STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Our classroom will be a safe, fun, and cooperative environment for learning that encourages every student
to do his/her best academically and show respect for others in order to promote the success of everyone in
the classroom.

CLASSROOM RULES
Rule 1: Be Respectful
Rule 2: Be Responsible
Rule 3: Be Safe

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
Procedure 1: Start of Class
Students will enter the classroom everyday with their homework, assignment notebook, and a book they
are silently reading.
Students will have their assignment notebook open with a signature from a parent/guardian signed on the
previous day.
Students will read silently every morning for 20 minutes while I walk around the room and star each
notebook if their parent/ guardian has signed it.T
Students will also turn in their homework at this time.

Procedure 2: End of Class

Students will have homework written in their assignment notebook on the correct date.
I will check each notebook by placing a check mark on the correct date. The check mark will be the color
of the box their clip landed on at the end of the day. (See positive and negative consequences)
Once I have checked each student's assignment notebook he/she will place his/her chair on top of the
desk and line up to be dismissed.
All trash will be picked up and desks returned to original positions.
I will dismiss the class, not the bell.

Procedure 3: Collecting Papers

There will be a designated basket to turn in homework.
When students pass papers in as a larger group I will designate a student to pick up the papers.

Procedure 4: Restroom Procedures

Having to use the restroom is student directed.
When a student has to use the restroom he/she will sign out on the designated sign out sheet near the
door.
The student will sign his/her name under either the boy or girl column.
He/She will also put the time he/she leaves the classroom and the time he/she re-enters.
If students begin to abuse this system then a new system will be put into place.

Procedure 5: Tardieness
If a student arrives after the morning bell he/she must receive a note from the main office.
If a student arrives late coming back from another class he/she must have a note from the previous
teacher.

Procedure 6: Make-Up Work

If a student misses class I will have the material ready when he/she returns.
It is the students' responsibility to collect their make-up work the day they returns.
Students will have a week to complete their make-up work.
If a student knows he/she will miss class ahead of time he/she must collect the work before he/she
leaves.

Procedure 7: Attention Grabbers

I will use a system of verbal and non-verbal cues.
I will use cue words or phrases to bring the class back together and get their attention.
I will say part of a phrase aloud and the students must then finish the phrase.
Once the phrase has been said students are required to turn their voices off.
EX. Me: ''1,2,3 eyes on me.'' Students:''1,2 eyes on you.''

Procedure 8: 5 Voice Levels

These are the voice levels students are premitted to use during the school day.
0=No talking; Silence
1=Whisper
2=Normal conversation voice
3=Raised voice; Teacher instructional voice
4=Shouting; Outdoor or emergency voice only

Students will be expected to write their homework in their assignment notebook each day and mark the
color they end on from the behavior chart.
Students need to write what they read and how long they read each night and get a parent signature each
night.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR PLAN-CLIP SYSTEM

move their clip down to yellow (Think About It).At this stage the student will be given a note to
take home to their parents/guardians explaining their behavior.
Level 3: Move Clip Down: If, during the same day, the student still continues to have negative behavior
he/she will be sent to the office.

CRISIS PLAN
1: Ask crisis student to step in hall to regain control.
2: Contact another teacher/counselor so students are not left alone.
