Developing Resilience from Home to School

Greetings from Generations Christian Education!

We would like to invite you and your friends to a seminar presented by Dr. Roby Marcou
who will speak on Developing Resilience-from home to school.
Harvards Centre for the Developing Child recent research underlines the importance of
developing resilience for success in life. As parents and educators we know it is not
possible to protect our children from the ups and downs of life. Raising resilient children,
however, is possible and can provide them with the tools they need to respond to the
challenges of life and as we prepare children for life and to navigate successfully to
adulthood.
This seminar will help parents understand the importance of developing resilience in your
child by providing practical advice that you can apply in your family at home and school.
We look forward to learning together as a school community to know, understand more
about resilience and what skills be can developed across a childs life.

Registration: Tickets are $150 per person. Please complete the sign up slip below and

Dr. Roby Marcou is an American Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrician who has
lived and worked in Jakarta and Singapore for the past 19 years. She was educated at
MIT, University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Stanford University Hospitals and the
Childrens Hospital of Boston/ Harvard Medical School. Her professional experience has
included extensive work with patients from early childhood through late adolescence who
experience complex learning, attention, developmental and behavioural difficulties. She
currently conducts comprehensive assessments and provides case management in her
clinic in Singapore. Previously she was on the faculty at the National University of
Singapore where she trained physicians and allied medical professionals. She has worked
throughout Asia in affiliation with many international schools providing assessments,
professional and parent training and has spoken often at regional educators' conferences.
For six of the 13 years she lived in Jakarta she was on the faculty of the Middle School at
Jakarta International School.
