The linga form of Shiva is the most purest and real form of him.
Due to lack of description in vedas. The origination of linga clearly dates back to
Tantra(Shiva+Shakti) age. There are several stories concerning linga in
purans(Shiva puran, linga puran,..) but due to contradiction they may not clarify
hidden patterns for normal beings of this age.
In hinduism's tantra, not only Shiva's linga, the linga of other deities are also made.
For instance indra's linga is erected in Kathmandu and other places and is
worshipped.
The hinduism regards reproductive organs such as phallus(linga), vagina(yoni) as
sacred and they are the only thing behind every new creation. They are the base
where shakti kundalini(goddess) resides as a serpent.
You can get countless old idols with linga and yoni.

Linga is main difference between a male and female and thus can be interpreted as a
union.
If you see every stories from purans, you can visualise Lord Shiva with sexuality. He
gives his semen to fire and thus born of Kartikeya and maha maithun and lots of
such stuffs.
He also is naked and open and innocent like child. Every praise about him is his
insult as he cant be described in words.Kind as kind, anger as rudra and thousands
and lakhs of hyms names in his prayer are not enough.
Still Sada Shiva(forever Shiva) is only achieved through his worship in the form of
linga. No one can really hide this reality not even Vaishnaism.
He is only truth and there are no any false thing regarding him as no one can
speak against him. for example his lifestyle, smoking weeds, dhaturo and also
his wild nature, exotic dances, mystic mantras and tantra discourses to Parvati
as well as Machindranath, so its no doubt that his linga form is also the true part.
Existence of jyotirlingas and his boons in every epic of hinduism also speaks the
reality of his true form ,THE LINGA.
Having countless arguments and proofs over LINGA is fascinating. Having seen and
worshipped over thousands of shiv lingas, I as myself believe that Lord shiva's other
form such as human looklike are created later by humans.
In fact, the base of our evolution is reproduction which eventually starts fromsacred
linga and yoni union. These are naturally gifted and provokes self realisation and
no discrimination between any body parts.

Hail Lord Shiva

Om Namah Shivaye.
Interpreting some meaning of even somebody's name results in some permutaion
and combinations,so stories constructed on basis of word interpretation is worthless.
If you love your body visualise that it is more beautiful than sun more entertaining
than moon and is so complex that you eventually start to believe that the all the
evolution, developments and every thing you have ever achieved in your life may be

as a family, friends, technology etc everything just because of yoni and linga, the

representation of the greatest lord, the shiva.
We as a hinduism believe him, as a destroyer and his abode shivalokaie kailash as
the greatest one.
If you have any doubt please comment,I'd be happy to clarify. :)

Linga means mark. Shiva Linga simply means a symbol of Shiva. The Yoni
associated with the Shiva Linga is simply the source. Just as
Vedantins have Brahman - Shakti, Sankhya has Purusha - Prakriti,
Shaivism has Linga - Yoni.
The Linga is equivalent to Brahman of Vedanta. The word linga is traced to two
Sanskrit roots, li meaning to dissolve and gam which means to go, to be manifested
or created. The Sivanubhava Sutra 3.3 defines Linga as follows:
That in which all mobiles and immobiles enter, i.e., get dissolved, and that from
which the universe is created is Linga.

There are also mukha linga or Lingas with faces. Then there are vigraha Lingas
where the full form of Siva is inscribed on the Linga. The faceless Lingas are called
Sthanu Linga or Linga columns which form is traced to legendary material about
SIva given in certain Puranas like Linga Purana (ch 17), the Kurma Purana (I.26.6899) etc where Siva appeared as a column of fire.
