19. Collect and organize data, and apply critical thinking to interpret information
from clients and constituencies.
20. Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-inenvironment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in interventions
with clients and constituencies.
21. Develop mutually agreed-on intervention goals and objectives based on the
critical assessment of strengths, needs, and challenges within clients and
constituencies;
22. Select appropriate intervention strategies based on the assessment, research
knowledge, and values and preferences of clients and constituencies.

COMPETENCY 7
These behaviors can be done by simply sitting down and having a conversation
with the client, and listening to what the client has to say. While doing so, know
what the client wants and the goals they would like to make.
Once a client enters the New Horizon shelter, there is a sheet that the client fills
out. One of the questions is what the client would like to accomplish while they are
at the shelter. We then go over how the client can accomplish these goals.

Support the client but do not tell the client what to do, let them decide on their
own. Once a goal is in place, work daily on accomplishing that goal or goals if there
are more than one.
