The after-school tutorial program will focus on increasing proficiency
scores in reading, math, and science for students in secondfifth grade.
Students were identified by their teachers as students that have the potential

Dawson at Scotland Neck Primary

to receive proficient scores on end of year assessments. The program will also
provide remediation and intervention services for students that may possibly
be retained at the end of the year.
The after-school tutorial program will be available to targeted students
beginning the week of February 15, 2016 and ending the week of May 23,
2016. Students will attend from 3:454:45pm on Wednesdays and
Thursdays. Transportation will be provided for student participants. The
after-school program curriculum will be a continuation and extension of NC
Common Core Essential Standards and test-taking strategies that help
develop our students into good readers, mathematicians, and scientists.
The identified tutors will be selected through an application process and
teacher data results that meet or exceed growth. Each applicant will be
providing approximately 1 hour of instruction for certified staff at $25.00 per
hour or $20.00 per hour for classified staff members. Total cost of this
program is contingent upon student enrollment and participation. Please
review the following expenditures for personnel for the after-school tutorial
program.
