Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific is celebrating its 16 th Foundation

Anniversary this year. Considering the history of all schools nationwide, it reveals
the fact that The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific is still young. Being
young means MAAP is to be a vital and progressive institution, and has a mission to
provide quality education and training to the midshipmen in order to develop
competent seafarers who shall possess the character, knowledge, and skills
necessary for the successful pursuit of a progressive maritime career.
When we celebrate the Foundation Anniversary, it is not all about reminiscing
the past but also we will face the incoming challenges that will bring the name of
MAAP on top of all maritime institute and a well-known institute in maritime
industry.
MAAP started with one campus, this campus has only one building. With the
dream of our Father of Filipino Seafarers and the AMOSUP and MAAP Founder,
Capt. Gregorio Sta. Cruz Oca MM, Ph. D; our former institution has only 11 hectares,
but now it grew 103 hectares academy compose of two campuses, the Capt.
Gregorio S. Oca Campus and the JSU-IMMAJ Campus, Housing facilities, and the
Centre of Advance in Maritime Studies (CAMS).
MAAP continue to produce competent officers that have good character, skills
and knowledge that will serve and lead the merchant fleet worldwide. As a member
of the midshipmen fleet, I give my greatest thanks to the institution for giving me
an opportunity to be a scholar in the academy, to develop the character and
discipline, and to study in a world-class academy. And to our mentors, you have
experienced new challenges just to find ways to present new knowledge. I give you
honor for your commitment and daily work. You are paving the road of knowledge
and hope for the future for the midshipmen.
Thank you very much and congratulations MAAP for its 16 th Foundation
Anniversary. God bless us all.
