Sometimes people are not sure


how to lead case discussion.
The following PowerPoint
is designed to explain this.
Please get out your syllabus and schedule
and use them to follow this discussion.

Assignment: Lead case discussion for a
week. Write up the case.

Cases are assigned in the Class Schedule.


Cases are from the textbook.
You sign up for this so know the case and the week.
Choose between this assignment or writing a Living
Case.

Overview

Group uses questions about the case to encourage class to use theory and tools.

Purpose: to help the class


Learn the theory for the week.
Learn and apply the tools of analysis.

Class
Reads the assigned case.
Reads the assigned material that week.
Enters into discussion by answering the questions posted by the group.

Group facilitates and guides discussion


Engages class by asking open ended questions based on all the assigned material.
Encourages use of tools.
Adds supplemental material and additional questions throughout week
Makes sure that class is meeting the Learning Goals for the week

Group hands in a written case analysis one week after the discussion ends.

Details
Post some questions at the beginning of the class week
(Monday 12:01 a.m.). The questions should ask how the
assigned textbook and Bb material apply to the case.
Use the case analysis format in DLEM Ch. 13 (also found in
the syllabus).
Questions should encourage the use of the analysis tools for
that week.
Ask questions, add provocative statements, suggest additional
material all week long.
Occasionally summarize the discussion.
