The Rumble Sheet

April 2016
DIRECTORS CORNER
With the Spring Banquet now behind us, we are looking
forward to the upcoming events in April. A great time
was had by all at the Banquet and Craig Zingers music
set everyone toes to tappin. See details and pictures
th
elsewhere in this issue. On April 10 Keith Waltower is
hosting the annual Safety meeting at his garage in West
rd
Newton. On April 23 , Chuck Berrington is sponsoring
the Annual Tune up luncheon at Rock Bottom at the
Waterfront in Homestead. Both of these events are very
worthwhile and are well attended. We are hoping as
many as possible can make it this year.
Thanks to the efforts of Don Unger, we are getting closer
to developing a co-operation agreement with one of the
local technical schools. I hope by this time next month, I
will be able to tell you more about it.
Now that spring is here, our thoughts turn to getting
those model As back on the road. Yesterday (March
th
26 ), I took my coupes water pump off to replace the
packing nut and fan. I had purchased one of the
aluminum fans and a new packing nut because the old
nut had some broken ears. I was discouraged to find that
the leakless seal in the rear bushing had worn a rather
deep groove into the two year old stainless steel shaft. I
was surprised to see that after only about 1500 miles,
but then remembered folks warning: Dont change
Henrys design. He will reach out from the grave and you
will regret it. So now maybe I will remove the new seal
and rely on the lead ring seals in the packing nut to get
the job done. Does anyone know what works and what
doesnt with regard to water pumps? Has anyone out
there had problems with water pumps? Would a seminar
at someone shop be worthwhile? If there is enough
interest, I will try and get something organized this
summer or fall so let me hear from you. Until next month
then..Roland and Myrna

New
MARC Membership Program for 2016 MARC is
pleased to announce a New MARC Membership
Program for 2016.Its 2016 and time to pay it forward
Do you know a Model Aer or family friend that has an
interest in Model A Fords and is not a member of
MARC? Here is a great way to create new members for
MARC and do something nice for someone in 2016.
Any member or Region of MARC who signs up a new
paid member will receive a Complimentary
Membership Application to pass out to an additional
new member if requested. This Program is effective as
of Jan 1, 2016 so send in your new member applications
and request that we will send you a Complimentary
Membership application.
This program is for new members only and does not
include renewal of current or recent members.
Here is an example, A Region signs up a new member
in early 2016. They can then request a Complimentary
Membership Application to give away to the next new
member candidate for MARC. This will help our
membership grow. As the year goes into the fall of 2016
these Free Applications can then be used for new
members for 2017.
This program is available to all of MARC members and
MARC Regions and will include all of our International

Members.
We hope this will help our Regions grow in size and gain
new members. Thanks for participating!
If you have any questions regarding this new program
please contact the MARC office or the Director of
Membership Ken Ehrenhofer at 630-697-3906.
The new Free Member Form will be of a different color
and will have a special marking on it?
You cannot belong to our Region without paying the
National dues as well.
The deadline for registering without penalty for Grand
Blanc/Flint Membership Meet has been extended to March
20th.
