We combined Science and Language to learn about the Life cycle of the chicken.
We wrote about what we learned.
Cienna presented a book talk on Caillou Watches Rosie and Joshua M P shared
Thomas and the Freight Train with us. Both did an excellent job!
Miss Mason read us a Blue Spruce story called Henry Holton takes to the Ice and
exchanged our books.
Gym: On played several games with balls of different sizes to develop our ball
skills. We also did some running and exercises to celebrate World Health Day.

We also worked with Mrs. Boughners class on our Dance Fest Dance which is
upcoming on Thursday May 5.
Religion: We celebrated new signs of life. Discussed how the blossoms on fruit
trees turn into fruit and how it is another miracle of God.
Science: We celebrated World Health Day and learned about the Canada Food
guide. We also learned the life cycle of the chicken.
In Art: Miss Angenent set up a painting booth and had the children individually
listen to music and paint what they felt. The children painted a cherry blossom
tree using the bottom of a pop bottle.
In Music, Drama and Dance: Miss Angenent continues with Musical Lunches and
dance parties. Miss Angenent read The Man with the Violin . We watched a video of
Joshua Bell, the musician featured in the book, playing in the subway station.
In Mathematics: We continued learning 2-D shapes square, rectangle, triangle,
circle, oval, diamond, hexagon, pentagon, rhombus and octagon. We played several
interactive games to learn the shapes, but the favourite was Shape Twister!
In Personal and Social Development: We talked about being responsible while in
the washroom and being respectful and quiet in the hallway while getting a drink.
There will be no more leaving the classroom to get a drink from the fountain,
please ensure your child has a water bottle.
In Inquiry/Directed Play:
The children showed an interest in different musical instruments so we rolled the
piano in. They loved opening the piano up and seeing how it worked. They all had a
turn to play a song or two.
After talking about the life cycle of a chicken some of the children made their own
nests out of materials in the classroom.
Other activities included fine motor and vocabulary development.
