Communication is the exchange
or transfer of signals, facts, ideas
and symbols. It requires a sender,
a message and an intended
receiver. Communication involves
the activity of conveying
information or meaning. Effective
communication requires a
common 'language' (which may
be written, spoken or non-verbal).

Any change in relationship brings

systems like human societies and

PerformanceTask(s
(Content):

PerformanceTask(s)
(Technology):

Students will document the rise to

power of Mussolini and Hitler
through the use of a Weblog and
linear timeline creator.

Students will utilize social media

to create a Weblog and Interactive
Timeline that will document the
rise to power of an Authoritarian
State.

OtherEvidence(Content):

OtherEvidence(Technology):

Students will link their learning in

the final of their post on their
weblogs to document connections
to present day.

Students will create a series of

weblog posts and integrate digital
tools such as JPEG, GIF and or
video links.

Stage3
Learning Activities (Content):
Through the study of secondary
and primary sources the students
will be compiling research about
the Authoritarian government
movements that took place in the
early 20th century. They will
identify the commonalities
between the rise and rule of two
Authoritarian states (NAZI
Germany and Fascist Italy). The
goal of the content discovery
phase is to better understand the
tools, ideologies and tactics that
Authoritarian parties/rulers user to
gain control and to keep control
through both domestic and foreign
policy decisions. Students will
then translate the information
they use into a series of written
and digital weblog posts that show
the steps through a generic
fashion.

LearningPlan
Learning Activities (Technology):
In order to integrate technology
into this lesson there will be
several activities where students
learn about the proper way to
create quality weblogs. This will
include not only Digital design
principles but also writing prose
and web design ideas.
They will also learn to use the
skills of digital embedding and
digital storytelling concepts.
This project hits many of
Gardeners multiple intelligences
because it requires students to be
organized (visual), Creative
(Weblogs), logical (ensuring
research is accurate), it does not
take musical creation into account
but does allow students to use
music on their social media pages
to get their message across. It
also lends it self nicely to Dales
Cone of experience because it can
take the student through almost
all of the steps from abstract to
concrete at some stage.
