HTSB Standard 6: Assessment

Candidate understands and uses multiple methods of assessment
to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner
progress, and to guide the teacher and learners decision-making.
Part I: Describe a teaching artifact that represents the overall HTSB standard
Teaching Artifact: Workshop Assessment
Course: ED295A
Teaching Artifact Description: Candidate created an End of Worshop Assessment form in
Google Forms.
Teaching Artifact Results: Using Google Forms, I created the assessment for students to fill out at the
end of a lesson workshop. During the lesson, they were doing self-assessment activities. The assessment
allowed them to reflect on how meaningful the assessments wre that they took and also what hey learned
from it. They also compared how a fellow student felt the assessment results were consistent with the
individual assessed. The Google Forms system collects the data from the form and puts it into a
spreadsheet. The results can be easily analyzed for changes to future assignments.

Part II: Connect teaching artifact to a sub-standard and assess your proficiency

Self-Assessment (Use the course

assignment rubric as your guide):
I created the Workshop #2
Assessment for two reasons. First,
students were able to use it as a
formative assessment to reflect on
their own learning during the lesson.
Second, I was able to gather the
results of the survey to reflect on
what was working and not working

in the lesson, so I could make adjustments. Below is a screenshot of the data I was able to collect
through the Google Forms assessment.
I meet the highest level of always on this practice, as I use a variety of assessments with
students.
Evidence that supports self-assessment (include student samples/data where appropriate)

Part III: Improve your proficiency for the HTSB standard

6.1 Does Candidate use, design or adapt a variety of classroom

formative assessments, matching the method with the type of
learning objective?
Research Findings:
Implementation of findings (please describe or demonstrate a specific example):
One area I could improve on would be to have more of this this type of assessment and other
types of formative assessments with students.

According to Murray, Google forms is one of the finest formative assessment tools on
the market. Properly infused, this tool can transform a classroom environment where
'every child, every answer, every time moves from philosophy to reality. I found this to
be true when using the form. It is a powerful tool that allows us to analyze student
opinion and performance.
