Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to you with great interest in becoming part of the nursing team at the
Trillium Hospital. I am a Bachelor of Science Honours Graduate from the University of
Toronto and a soon to be registered graduate (June 2016) from the Humber College
Practical Nursing Program.
Having worked in both the acute and chronic patient units through my placements at
Trillium, I have been able to successfully apply my academic learnings in a practical
setting. I have had the privilege of working alongside and learning from nursing
professionals who have been instrumental in my development. As a result, I have become
proficient in navigating tools like the SCM system through to providing Tracheostomy
and IV therapy care for individual patients. Caring for patients even over a fairly short
time I have learned the value of being empathetic to each patients condition in acute and
geriatric care facilities where I have worked and built relationships over the past five
years. Working in these customer service environments has helped me to appreciate the
value of being responsive to my patients needs. Finally, working as a team with the
nurses, doctors and pharmacy, I have also been able to apply my strong teamwork skills
that I have learned from past academic and competitive sports programs where I have
enjoyed very successful outcomes.
In closing, as a Mississauga resident and user of Trilliums health services, I sincerely
believe that my positive attitude, skills, experience and willingness to learn will help me
to be a valuable contributing member of the team at Trillium. Thank you for your
