Teaching Artifact Description

Each of the teachers is assigned to a specific


team for our self-study for the WASC accreditation
visit. At least once per month we met and wrote
and edited our portion of the self-study.
Teaching Artifact Results
As a group, we constructed and edited our portion of the WASC
self-study. During the visit, we met with the team to discuss our
section. Overall, our accreditation visit went really well. We were
re-approved for our accreditation.

Connection to Artifact

Being new to the school, it was great to service on the various


teams. I was able to learn more about Kauai High Schools goals
and mission. This allowed me to help instill these ideals in the
students.

I have seen the benefits of using collaboration. It helps to be a


part of the teams at the school. I was able to get to know my
colleagues. They were very helpful in getting me up to speed on
the schools vision and mission.

As I gain more experience in teaching, I will have more time to


work with the other departments and community members to get
more involvement.
The goal of the data teams are to work on formative assessments
to improve student learning outcomes. We look at what the
students know and what they need to know. The data teams are a
part of the requirements for Hawaii DOE schools.

This article stated there are better student outcomes when teachers
collaborate. Several reasons for this include the teachers building
better relationships with each other and shared responsibilities.
Without collaboration, teaching can be a very isolating
