1. Describe what you did for your physical project in at least 25 words.

Include the
total number of hours you spent on the project. Please BOLD the number of hours.
For my hours I gathered donations from people, and myself to give to animal shelter. Once I
had money I went to the store to buy animal food and materials to make blankets. I also
created a pamphlet with information on how people can help animal shelters.
18 hours, 49 minutes.

2. Explain how your physical product (project) relates to, supports and/or builds upon
the content of your research paper. Be specific and give examples.
My physical project helps people understand that animal shelters need help with getting
every animal adopted and provide a decent home for them while they are under their care. I
also explained to people while passing out the pamphlet how puppy mills are causing an
increase in unwanted animals.
3. What is the most important skill you have acquired during the project phase?
I acquired the skill to step out of my comfort zone by going up to people to ask for donations
even if I didnt know them.
4.
On an emotional, intellectual, and/or physical level, what did you learn about
yourself during the process of the entire Senior Project here at Sierra Vista High
School?
Its sad to see that most people want puppies and or pure breeds instead of giving a shelter
animal a good and loving home.
5.
Describe problems you encountered during the completion of your project hours
and explain how you handled/solved these problems.
The problem I encountered was people not wanting to donate anything to the animal shelter. I
solved this problem by creating a pamphlet that described the types of donations that can be
given encouraging people to donate.
6. If given the opportunity to redo the physical product/project, what would you do
differently?
I would have fundraised money another way, such as selling candy. I think by fundraising
money people will believe the money is going to a good cause since most people thought I
was going to keep the money for myself.
7. Did your project turn out the way you envisioned it in the beginning or did you have
to modify your plans/vision? How did you adjust it?

My project didnt turn out the way I expected, I thought many people would donate
something whether it was spare change or anything they had at home. Instead I found that
many people were reluctant to give anything. To resolve this problem I gave pamphlets to the
people that didnt donate to show them that anything given will be appreciated and the
animals at shelters need help.
8. How does the entire Senior Project relate to your future goals? How will this area of
interest continue to be a part of your life? If not at all, why?
Although it is not my intention to be working in the animal field it is my goal to help bring
awareness to animal abuse involved in the puppy mill industry as well as decreasing the
number of animals in shelters. Animal shelters have always and will continue to be a part of
my life because of my dog, Shadow, he was not only my first dog but a rescue from the
Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. Having him opened up my eyes on how people judge animals
that come from the animal shelter, because of him I want to spread the word of animals in
shelters.

9. What grade would you give yourself for your project? Justify the evaluation of your
grade in at least 25 words, giving specific support.
I would give myself and A because Im not only doing these hours to pass my senior project
but to help animals in need, which is something Ive always wanted to do. Since I was
younger I always wanted to volunteer at the animal shelter but have always had a hard time
finding time, now there is a way to help without it interfering in my studies and time; since
this belongs in my studies.
