Steve Jobs, the well-known inventor of Apple, is very important to the science of
technology. His contributions have changed the world greatly, and are known worldwide.

Modern technology has been revolutionized because of Steve Job and his wonderful inventions.
Apple is the worlds most successful company and that is mostly due to Steve Jobs
determination and vision.
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California to Joanne
Schieble and John Jandali. His birth parents were both graduate students who gave up their child
up for adoption. Joanne, a speech therapist, and John, a political science professor, soon married
and had another child named Mona Simpson.
At an early age, he was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs. Paul was a Coast Guard veteran
while Clara was an accountant. The Jobs family lived in Mountain View, California. Steve and
his father loved to work on different electronics in their garage. After years of this tradition, it
turned into a hobby for Steve.
Even as a child, Jobs was known to be intelligent and a good test taker. He even got his
fourth grade teacher to bribe him into doing his homework. Jobs was so intelligent, that his
principal wanted to send him straight to high school, but his parents said no because they wanted
him to have a normal childhood.
Steve ended up at Homestead high school, where he found his future partner in apple,
Steve Wozniak. After high school, Wozniak went to the University of California and Jobs
attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. However, Steve dropped out only six months after
he enrolled and instead he worked on creative classes. A few years later, in 1974, he became a
video designer with a guy named Atari.
At age 21, Steve quit and he and Wozniak decided to try and create a computer. In order
to pay for the expenses of the computer, they both had to sell their favorite things. Jobs ended up

selling his Volkswagen bus, while Wozniaks had to sell his scientific calculator. Wozniak
became the engineer and created many personalized computers. Jobs became the marketing
manager and started selling their computers for $666.66 each.
Marketing was very successful and the apple was selling. Sales increased greatly, around
700%. This increase allowed Apple to reach sales of $139 million. Sales went up, and Apple
became more popular and soon became a publicly traded business. The president of Pepsi-Cola,
John Sculley, helped Jobs understand the things needed to become a president of a company.
Like most businesses, they had their ups and there downs. Apple created some products
that were flawed. Even after creating a new computer called Macintosh, Apple still suffered and
couldnt bring up the sales. Jobs tried to create many different products in order to compete with
another business, IBM/PC. Jobs constant competing ended up hurting Apple. It got to the point
where John Sculley tried to influence Jobs executives to push him out.
Jobs ended up leaving Apple in 1985 and decided to start a new company. His new
company became NeXT, Inc. He then purchased a company that specializes in animations from
George Lucas. He named this new company Pixar Animation Studios. Jobs was confident that
Pixar would be successful, so he invested $50 million that he earned from apple into this
business. His decision was risky, but it ended up being a very good decision. Some of the
movies that got produced from his company include Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The
Incredibles. All the films created by his company earned $4 billion.
Jobs new company was a success and Apple decided to buy it. In 1996 Apple bought the
company for $429 million. A year after Apple bought the company, Jobs went back to work for

Apple. He helped Apple get back on track to the company that they are now. He helped create
the iMac with various designs, which got Apples costumers back, all for a $1 salary.
Steve Job didnt like to talk about his personal life. He had a daughter but didnt have a
relationship with her until she was 7. When he did get to know his daughter, they became really
close and she even moved in with him when she was a teen. Later, in the early 1990s he found
and later married Laurene Powell. They met at Stanford Business School and moved to Palo Alto
California, where Jobs later had three more children.
Sadly, in 2003, he got a cancerous tumor called neuroendocrine which was in his
pancreas. Jobs decided to go a pescovegetarian diet, instead of getting traditional treatment. Jobs
refused to get surgery for several months, and everybody at Apple got concerned. Finally, in
2004 he got surgery. The surgery was a success and the tumor was removed.
Once he had surgery, he returned to work and help create many products. Some of the
more popular products include the MacBook Air, IPhone, iPad, and the iPod. Jobs brought
Apple back and in return got the loyalty of their customers. As new products gets released,
customers from around the world rush to come see what new product Apple has come up with.
As a result, their stock began to show huge gains.
Apple made $1.58 billion dollars and had no debt. Apple had turned out so much better
than Jobs had hoped. In 2008, Apples new investment, iTunes, became the second biggest music
retailer. Apple ended up selling 200 million iPods and at least billion songs sold through iTunes.
Apple is becoming bigger and better by the minute. They are featured in countless blogs
and magazines. An example of how important Apple has become, include becoming number 1 on
the magazine Americas Most Admired Companies. Apple also got number 1 among several

different companies. In just a few years, Jobs helped put Apple on the top, and made it one of the
most admired companies in world.
Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011. Although he got surgery for his cancer, he still
fought cancer for around 10 years. He died when he was 56 years old in Palo Alto, California.
Apple was devastated and shared the official news with the world about the death of the cofounder of Apple. Jobs biggest regret was not treating his cancer when he first learned about it.
If he did so, he could have treated the tumor completely instead of dealing with it for a decade
and then later dying from it.
Steve Jobs had an eventful 56 years, and is mostly known for his amazing contribution to
Apple. He not only saw Apple suffer, but he saw Apple thrive and he learned a lot in business.
Most people know of him because of the iPhone or iPad, but will never know the early years. All
the years of struggling and all of his failures on his way to creating Apple the worlds most
successful company. He was able to keep his family life private and away from the spotlight.
In conclusion, he forever changed modern technology and will always be honored for his
hard work and dedication to Apple. We know what he has done and what current products Apple
have. However, it will be a long time before we can see what other future inventions will come
from his visions. Will Apple still be successful or is the loss of its founder and creative leader too
much for Apples future success?
