INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Sara has been a pleasure to work with this school year. She is open to suggestions and advice
from myself as well as grade level teammates. She is friendly, outgoing, and easy to get along
with. She has taken time to get to know the teachers and support staff in our building. She works
cooperatively as part of a grade level team and is always seeking opportunities to contribute to the
team. She has also volunteered to help with our reading month committee work. Sara has
established high yet reasonable expectations for students, and has a friendly rapport with all
students and parents.

CLASSROOM CLIMATE AND MANAGEMENT

Sara maintains a positive, nurturing, classroom environment, in which students feel respected and
free to be themselves, make mistakes and ask for help when needed. The environment she creates
is conducive to courtesy and cooperation. The students show her respect and they know they can
depend on her to be fair and consistent. Her classroom management is effective and well defined.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

Sara is always well prepared to implement her lessons each day. She has always had all necessary
materials ready to go before her lesson begins. Her prior preparation ensures her lessons run
smoothly. When implementing each lesson, she is aware of the attention span of the students and
changes her plans according to the attentiveness of the class. Her lessons have a definite sense of
flow and she lets the students know what they will be doing during the lesson and keeps them
actively involved. Sara has done a great job incorporating learning targets into her lessons, which
is one of our school improvement strategies. This use of learning targets also gives the first
graders a sense of ownership over their learning.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING AND INCORPORATION OF TECHNOLOGY TO ENHANCE

STUDENT LEARNING
Sara has incorporated online games, videos, and reading series resources into her lesson plans.
She is comfortable using the ELMO and the interactive white board in order to enhance her
lessons. She uses our districts online programs; Discovery Ed and Connect Ed, to support reading
and science lessons. Utica Schools uses a blended learning model in kindergarten through second
grade classrooms, which includes the use of iPads and the Dreambox math program to offer
personalized learning for each student. Sara has learned how to troubleshoot technology issues as
well as how to monitor student progress on these programs. She has also used online resources to
communicate with the parents such as; Remind.com, a classroom webpage and the SeeSaw
website.
EVALUATION
Sara is perceptive of students needs and knows which students need extra encouragement to
answer questions or participate during lessons. Sara strategically calls on students who may be
hesitant to participate, but does so in a non-threatening, nurturing way that allows them to feel
successful and helps them to understand the lesson better. She is aware of where the students are
in their learning and knows the right amount of support to give as well as when to encourage
independence.

COMMAND OF SUBJECT MATTER

Sara has demonstrated a clear understanding of all subject matter she teaches. She properly
prepares to present each lesson with creativity and innovation. The lessons and units have a
clearly defined structure with activities that are organized around the structure. If a student asks a

related question that she does not have the answer to, she involves the students in the process of
using resources to look up the answer and encourages their curiosity.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Sara is warm, nurturing and always displays a positive attitude. She is patient with the children in
the class and always treats them with respect and fairness. She knows each child well and has
developed a bond with each. Her friendly and outgoing personality made her a great fit in our first
grade classroom. Sara has had perfect attendance and carries out tasks effectively and on time.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES
Sara shows professionalism in all she does at Beck Elementary. She has the ability to work well
with parents, other teachers and students. During her student teaching, Sara has participated in
staff meetings, before and after school parking lot duty, recess duty and several emergency drills.
She is punctual and responsible and has carried out all extra tasks that have been given to her.
Sara dresses professionally and conducts herself in a mature manner at all times.
