The Gates Millennium Scholarship

GMS supports its scholars in a variety of ways, including but not limited to, personal, leadership, and professional development
opportunities, networking and mentorship opportunities, as well as financial and academic support to prepare scholars to be the next
leaders in their professions and communities.
a. When: Applications open up in December and apply no later than January 13, 2017.
b. Amount: Full ride scholarship to any choice of college and includes books, travel time, food and not limited to
medical. Pays for some graduate schools, limited to Engineering, Public Health, Education, Computer Science,
Library Science, Mathematics, and Science.
c. Required:

every year, and is one of many significant college scholarship programs offered by similar companies in the restaurant industry.

EDISON INTERNATIONAL
Through the signature scholarship program, Edison Scholars, were awarded nearly $5.3 million in scholarships to 520 students since
2006. Last year, they awarded $1.2 million in scholarships to 30 high school seniors who plan to major in STEM fields: engineering
(electrical, mechanical, civil, computer, industrial, or environmental); computer science / information systems; or environmental
sciences. Each scholarship is valued at $40,000 and is payable over four years

Scholarship:
1. $5,000 per year per person
Required:
1. must be a high school senior planning to pursue science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) at a four-year college or
university on a full-time basis. Additional eligibility requirement
2. GPA of 3.0 or better
3. Demonstrate financial need
4. Plan to major in any of these STEM fields: engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil, computer, industrial, or environmental);
computer science / information systems; or environmental sciences

Enrolled full time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer, with plans to enter a
college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
2. Intend to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and
then transfer to a four-year institution)
3. Critical financial need, preferably $50,000 or lower adjusted gross income per family
4. Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities
5. Minimum GPA of 2.0
6. U.S. citizenship

Orientation You will enroll in an orientation course designed to familiarize you with the college and its
services, assist you in selecting classes and create your abbreviated Student Education Plan (SEP). See the

counseling office at the college you will be attending to schedule an appointment. (Please bring non Peralta
