Comments on Responses to Ouestion 4
1.

Candidate was able to relate to the demands of the question as evidenced by his/her ability to
explain and define relevant sociological concepts (deviance, social order, official crime
statistics). Also he/she identified the importance of official crime statistics.

2.

Candidate linked official statistics to functionalists, while arguments were offered on how
interactionists treat official crime statistics.

3.

Candidate showed very good application and analytical skills as he/she used relevant
examples to illustrate why O.C,S are flawed at times.

4.

Overall, a good attempt to offer a clear, coherent and well balanced view of O.C.S.
