Title: Power Point Presentation
Date: Fall 2015
Artifact Description:
The following artifact is a Power Point Presentation on the Islamic State of Iraq (ISIS) that I had
presented along with 3 other people for students in an International Relations class of my first
semester, freshman year, of college at University of Wisconsin Platteville. The presentation
was eight minutes long with two additional minutes at the end to answer questions. The
presentation covered what ISIS is, where they are from, where they are headed, and all of their
most recent news. Once our presentation was over, we allowed questions and provided answers.
Alignment:
Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment
This experience best aligns with Standard Six of the Wisconsin Teacher Development and
Licensure Standards which states: The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal
communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry,
collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom. This experience aligns with standard
six because the power point shows that during my presentation, I had to teach about a topic to
students who were the same age, if not older than myself. I knew I had provided a thorough
presentation, for the questions asked after the presentation were engaging and thoughtprovoking. The power point presentation also showed that I have the ability to use technology in
a classroom setting.
UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skill, Disposition Statement Alignment
This experience best aligns with KS3.a. of the UWP School of Education Knowledge, Skill, and
Disposition statements which states: The candidates spoken and written language are correct,
expressive, and clear, with well-chosen vocabulary that enriches teaching and communicated
thoughtfully, responsively, and effectively for a wide range of student understanding and
encourages appropriate student language development. This experience best aligns with this
standard because during the presentation, I spoke accurately, clearly, and carefully. To provide
better understanding I had used nonverbal and media communications such as photos, graphs,
and videos for a better understanding of my topic.
Secondary Alignment:
KSD3.a Communicating Clearly and Accurately
KSD3.d. Providing Feedback to Students
KSD3.b. Maintaining Accurate Records
Reflection:
What I Learned About Teaching/Learning:
I learned that communication is extremely important for teachers to effectively educate their
students. Teachers also need to keep a diverse teaching approach, for not all children are learning
at the same pace or in the same way. Teachers should also be taking advantage of all the

technology provided and accessible in todays society. With accessibility to technology, students
can get information faster and easier. Interaction with students is important as well. Incorporating
and involving students will help them better retain information for a better and fuller
understanding.
What I Learned About Myself as a Prospective Educator:
I learned that as a teacher, I need to provide diverse teaching strategies to instruct all of my
students. With a variety of teaching methods I can improve my students understanding of all
learning styles. I also need to keep up with today fast advancing technology to maintain top of
the line education and accessibility to my students.
