If I forget Thee, Oh Earth
Symbol- The Earth is a symbol to marvin in the way that its part of his past, a memory
that he has never experienced, and a goal of his grandchildren that he wont actually
experience.
Image- The story gives a figurative description for the most part. While it also uses
literal description. All together it gives the world a beautiful and terrible surroundings.
Figures of Speech- The figurative language was used a lot in the imagery. For example
the funeral pyre description. Overall it creates a wondrous and catastrophic feel to the
story.
Tone and Theme- The authors tone is full of wanting and longing to be on Earth. The
author lets the audience know how Marvin is feeling, that his grandchildren will be on
that destroyed Earth, which gives the knowing of destiny to the theme. The plot is
impossible, right now, but could be possible in the future.
1.Where did Marvin father take him?
MArvins father takes him across the Colony to look at the inhabited Earth that he used
to live on.
2.Why does Marvins father showing Marvin the dim and dying earth?
Marvins father wants him to understand what happened on Earth, and where they
came from.
3.What happened to Earth that made it inhabitable?
There was a war and there was a nuclear bomb that was deployed, which is why it is
glowing radioactive, that everyone either died or went with the colony.
