Temperature (Celsius)

The temperature measurements of both the arduino-based sensor and standard

thermocouple is shown in Fig. 3.1. Based on the results, the temperature measurements obtained
using the microprocessor-based sensor is not consistent with the actual standard temperature, this
can be attributed to the retarded response of the sensor. The sampling rate can be varied by
changing the time delay in the arduino code. We tried to decrease the sampling rate to 50
milliseconds, but the temperature was still not consistent with the thermocople. Fig. 3.2 shows
the humidity measurements obtained using DHT11. We did not have an standard equipment to
measure the humidity, so we did not have enough data to make comparisons.

4. Conclusion
A microprocessor-based temperature and humidity sensor was constructed. The said
system was used to measure temperature and humidity of a beaker filled with water that is being
heated on a hot plate over time. Consequently the temperature was measured using a standard
thermocouple. The results are not consistent with each other. The retarded response of the
DHT11 sensor may have caused the inconsistencies with the temperature measurements.
