Teacher will make a scavenger
hunt that relates to different
numbers related to different
Christmas holidays celebrated.
Ex. 5x5 is what American Holiday
in December?
Art
Develop a poster to show
cultural trends, etc. May
also dress in cultural
attire worn on Christmas.
Music:
3.9.1 - Investigate the use of music for special occasions and celebrations,
both in the United States and across world cultures.
3.9.2 - Explore music of other cultures through live or recorded authentic
performances and the role of music and musicians related to the cultures
and times.
Science:
I found no standards that really related to other places besides Indiana and a
few other earth based standards.
Reading/Language Arts:
5. RF.1 - Apply foundational reading skills to demonstrate reading fluency and
comprehension.
5. RF.2.1 Students are expected to build upon and continue applying
concepts used previously.
5. RF.2.1 Determine a theme of a story, play, or poem from details in the
text, including how characters respond to challenges or how the speaker
reflects upon a topic; summarize the text.
5. RF.3.1 Explain how a series chapters, fit together to provide an overall
structure of a particular story, play, or poem.
5. RF. 4.1 Use appropriate language, present information on a topic or text,
narrative, or opinion in an organized manner, with effective introductions and
conclusions, using appropriate structure, facts, and relevant descriptive
details to support main ideas or themes, speak clearly and concisely at an
understandable pace.
Social Studies:
5.1.1 - Identify and describe early cultures and settlements that existed in
North America prior to contact with Europeans.
5.1.3 - Compare and contrast historic Indian groups of the West, Southwest,
Northwest, Arctic and sub-Arctic, Great Plains, and Eastern Woodlands
regions at the beginning of European exploration in the late fifteenth and
sixteenth centuries.
5.1.5 - Compare and contrast the religious, political and economic reasons
for the colonization of the Americas by Europe.
5.3.2 - Identify and describe cultural and physical regions of the United
States.
Math:
