Comments from BSC Supervisor


Observation 1Observation 2- Lesson plans are complete and Ms. Lilly indicated Becky is doing an excellent job. The
students like her and she is working hard. Students were completing a diagnostic math test on a new
mobile lab. Ms. Bauer and Ms. Lilly monitored students as they worked. Becky will begin her action
research next week: Connect the area model and the partial products method to the standard algorithm.
Observation 3 Mrs. Bauer was well prepared and ready to teach. Students had dry erase markers and
manipulatives to work problems on their desk. She asked questions, used key vocabulary, and kept
students engaged and on-task in learning math. Positive reinforcement was provided. She moved around
the room monitoring students working. She did not just accept a correct answer but asked why allowing
students to demonstrate understanding of the learning process. Had a volunteer students teach the
class the next sample problem. Another student demonstrated checking the problem. Mrs. Bauer
continued to provide support and reinforcement of the steps as students taught.

Mentor was complimentary stating she is always going above and beyond to prepare for the contentstudying material, searching for extras like video. She also commented on what a great rapport Becky has
built with the students which was obvious in the observation. I left the classroom knowing Mrs. Bauer is
going to be an excellent teacher.
