The popularity of smartphones that now have GPS, texting, voice, and multimedia
capabilities has prompted education reformers to shine the light on these mobile devices
as vehicles suitable for improve our education system. In this article Mobile Learning
Technologies for 21st Century Classrooms the author Jonathan Wylie mentions some
Studies that help underline the academic potential that mobile devices can provide for
students. These are some examples of the positive impact that Wylie explain in this
article:
1. One example of mobile technology for children with special needs is

E-readers. The future, as the author saw it, was ebooks. They are
portable, easy to update, and cost-effective, and can be read on netbooks,

e-readers, laptops, and more.

3. Websites like Poll Everywhere and Text the Mob via cell phones, which
allow a teacher to create a set of questions that the students can respond to
with a text message.
4. A similar study, conducted at the Abilene Christian University, centered
upon the use of the Statistics 1 app. Students used it in and out of the
classroom and remarked that they understood the content better, and were
more motivated to do well, when using the app.

research shows that academic performances can improve. We as educators need to take
note of this, and look for safe, productive ways to integrate mobile learning devices into
our curriculums.

Mobile Devices for Schools Generating 'Huge Momentum,' Analysts Say
This article by Benjamin Herold on February 26, 2015 expected that by the
calendar year 2016, 54 percent of students and teachers will have access to a schoolissued personal computing device. This increasing on using personal computing devices
has been the first reason for heating up Chromebooks marketing; that overtook Apple's
and iPads,at 26 percent, as the bestselling device on the market last year.
Overall, we are living in a digital world where the computing devices everywhere
around us. I believe it is the time to get over the argument about using what if using
computing devices in school or not, to pay attention beyond this point. The clear drive to
adoption of personal devices brings both challenges and opportunities for the schools.
How can we control using these devices in class time? How can the teacher use mobile
devices in her/his lesson? How can turn the computing devices, whatever they are to a
useful tool for both students and teachers? Are Personal Devices the Future of Education?
Finally, Personal devices can be used for learning through gaming , referred to as
the gamification of learning, which is a further way of extending and reinforcing
learning in-school/out-of-school, whether incorporating mobile computing devices or
dedicated games consoles.
