Spring 2014
Sem I-ECED372
In recent weeks we have been reading books with illustrations that are made up of collages. The
children love using art to reinforce what theyve seen and learned from books.
OBJECTIVES AND ASSESSMENT
Developmental Objectives
1. The students will follow directions on
the instruction tent.
2. The students will describe their picture
Assessment
I will observe if the child will follow the directions on the instruction tent.
I will listen for what shapes and colors they decided to use on their
project. If the child is not responding, I will prompt the child by asking,
What colors did you use? and Why did you make that shape?

PROCEDURE
Implementation of the lesson If there are more than 4 children then children will write their name on the
waiting list
First, write your name on your piece of paper.
Read the instruction card. It says 1 drop of glue for each little piece of tissue
paper.
Ask what shapes are the different pieces of tissue paper
Allow the children to make whatever they want and encourage creativity
Allow the children to make as many collages as they choose
When they finish, children will take their collages to the drying area, and wash
hands if needed
Closure Collages can be shared with group. Children can explain colors and shapes that
they used to complete their artwork.

Clean-up
Return scattered tissue paper on table inside container and put on shelf
Return markers in container and put on shelf
Return bottles of glue in container and put on shelf
Put away left over construction paper
Wash and disinfect table
DIFFERENTIATION
For children who are English Learners, the instruction card will contain pictures and simple words to
describe the actions.
For children who have difficulty following directions and quickly move on to another activity, speak
clearly and simply and demonstrate the directions
WHAT COULD GO WRONG WITH THIS LESSON AND WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT?
Children may begin using too much glue on each piece of tissue, which may result in glue getting on the
floor or table. I will kindly refer them back to the instruction card, which says to use one drop of glue.
Children may have trouble using the glue bottle and if necessary I can bring glue sticks.
Markers may run out and I will have extra markers just in case.
