Individual PresentationEnglish 103

You will share your causal argument or proposal paper in a five-minute presentation that includes 4-6
visuals/slides, using PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, or another presentation platform compatible with a PC.
Time: 4-6 minutes (+2-3 minutes discussion afterward)

Present the context of your topic: what was done by who when?
Present your main points in brief.
Present the opposition, in brief. Provide at least one major point of disagreement with your reason(s).
Present the so what factor. What is the bigger picture? What are the wider implications of this event?

Your Visuals:
You should have a minimum of 4 slides. You can have as many as you like, as long as your presentation is under 6
minutes.
At least 3 of your slides should contain a visual image. All slides should contain words.
Ideas for Visual Images: picture of the person, the event, the place; general image that represents the
person or the event; graphs or charts indicating research findings; you may use up to 60 seconds of video
maximum (this counts as an image)
Tips:
Make sure you practice your presentation to check the time (I will cut you off at 6 minutes)
You will not be able to read your entire essay, but you may highlight a few strong sections to share
Only choose your best, strongest, most relevant points to share
You may want to share any questions you are left with and ask the class for their thoughtsyou will have time to add
more information to your paper over the weekend. Take advantage of this opportunity
Caution: Arrive to class on time. You will lose major participation points if you miss any classmates
presentations.
