Literacy Lesson Plan for Emergent Reader:

Based on a literacy assessment and a read-aloud that I have completed it is evident that
Annas reading level corresponds with a child of an emergent reader. Anna is able
identify 25 of the 26 letters in the alphabet along with writing her own legibly and
correctly by capitalizing the first letter in her name. Anna has strong sense of
understanding of concept about print by showing me a word, showing a letter, and
showing me the title to name a few. In addition to a strong concept of print, she has a
strong understanding about rhyming. She used the pictures to aid her in the rhyming
activity. Anna is still working on her concept of word. As an emergent reader her diet
consists of 20, 20, 20, 20, 20 ratio between time spent on concept of word, concept of
print, alphabet, language play, and writing.
