Context of the lesson


This lesson is the second lesson of the unit. In this lesson they will learn the property of the
materials. The main term it focusing on are strong, soft, rough and smooth.
Teaching goal
The over all aim is to teach students the difference between the terms and know what the property of the
materials are.
Learning objectives
Students will be able to identify the property of materials and identify it.
Assumptions about prior learning
Students learn the meaning of materials and know plastic, fabric and metal

Planning Stages Within the 5-E Inquiry Model


Engage
PURPOSE:
to convey the context of the lesson(s)/unit by conveying an important Key Question
to engage students in investigations that reveal their thinking to themselves and the teacher
to record the initial ideas of students
to engage their interest

Opening activity to surface student thinking:
Read a story about the topic
Opening activity to engage student interest and/or clarify context of the investigations:
Students from the story will identify the key terms of the property of materials.

What are the materials did you find and how it was feel?

Teacher will asks students to sit on the carpet.
Then, she will ask them if they want to hear a
story. Teacher starts reading the story ask
question in the same time. After she finish reading
the story, she start asking the students about
what they see in the story.

Students set on the carpet and they listen to the
story. Also, they will be answering the questions
durning the story like what do you think it will
happen next? Is that soft?. After finish the story
students have to share hat they learn from the
story.

PURPOSE:
to test ideas and develop knowledge using explorations, investigations, experiments
to modify and record ideas as they change due to activities
to develop new questions and testable hypotheses
