The type of poetry that really intrigues me is riddle poems. They come
in various lengths, however usually not too detailed. What I like about
these poems is that they make the reader really think. These poems
are very indirect and some can be interpreted in many different ways.
The fact that the reader usually has to sit down, read the poem
multiple times and then try to figure out what the author is portraying.
In other poems, you read it, the subject is clearly laid out, and it could
be cute or funny and thats the end of it. With riddle poems, it isnt
just a one time read through. The book says that these poems are
puzzling, but not impossible. Another advantage of riddle poems
that they normally have a rhyme scheme, of abcb or aabb, which could
help the reader figure out the riddle. Overall, I just really enjoy the
puzzle of figuring out what the author meant, or even coming up with
my own type of interpretation for it.
