. These sites give you a simple guide and useful information that can be added to students PowerPoint.

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:

The use of the google search engine is one of the key concepts of this unit besides Fitness, follow by the student
being able to use the search engine effectively along with the use of Microsoft PowerPoint.
Being able to search the internet is just half of the task at hand, the student must use good judgement when it
comes to what is an appropriate resource to use and what is not, thats why teachers have make sure that before
this lesson is taught that the teachers explain and show the students what a credible source is and what is not a
credible source.
In class the student will complete a tutorial on Microsoft PowerPoint to help the student understand how to use
the PowerPoint system, also the teacher will do a review on the definition of Fitness and will break down the
five elements of Fitness for the student understanding of the subject.
This lesson is to build on the knowledge that the student has already learned in physical education class, and
with the understand in of this lesson on Improving Fitness opens up future lesson that can be taught about the
five elements of fitness such as: Pick your favorite element of fitness and write a one page paper, or a project
strictly about the five elements of fitness and how they keep us fit. Or even why these elements are important to
the human body and how they work on the human body.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:

Introduction: Hey student, just a show of hand who thinks they know what fitness is? (Take answers from
students)Fitness is the quality of being suitable to fulfill a particular role or task. Ok Student who can name
an athlete that thinks has a high fitness level? Ok class fitness has five elements..
Procedures:

Student will first research the topic of Improving Fitness using the google search engine.
(10mins)
1. If student is have trouble with search the students are allow to use partners but no more
than three in a group.

Second the student will find five resources on the topic of Improving Fitness. (10mins)
2. If groups are being used no one in the group should have the same five sources.

Next the student will be creating their 10 slide PowerPoint presentation with information on how
an individual can improve on the assigned elements of fitness. (20mins)
1. 1 page is your cover page includes Name, Class, Teacher, Topic, and Cover Art
2. 2-9 is on the five elements of fitness and how individual can improve their fitness.

Next the student will create a bibliography that list all of the sources that were used on this
PowerPoint. (5mins)

Last the student will present their PowerPoint in a 15-minute Presentation in class. (15min)

(If student wants to work in a group as I said in the first part that is ok as long as its no more than three to a group
but if you do choose to work in a group that everyone must have their own sources. And the most important fact is
that choose your group wisely because the grade that group gets is what everyone in the group gets!!!!

Closure: For the end of the lesson I have and activity planned that is to build on the weeks to come
which will be: Since we have been going over the five elements of fitness I will student try to find out
which sport has the highest fitness level. Is it football, soccer, baseball, basketball, wrestling, or etc.? I
will have the students evaluate each sport and how often the five element of fitness is use while this
sport is being played which would give the students an better understanding of which sport has the
highest fitness level.
