Marissa Mathis

Biography

Marissa Mathis is graduating from Emory & Henry College with a

Graphic Design Major and a Visual Communications Minor. She enjoys
bringing digital designs to painting and printmaking. Growing up, her
parents were her biggest support system and encouraged her to do
what made her happy her whole life. With the freedom to be anything
she wanted to be, the creative world caught her attention and she has
thrived to make that her life. Growing up in Los Angeles made it easier
to examine different spectrums of the creative world from the various
types of culture and art right in her neighborhood.
The art in her life was always from her personal observations and
her own studies; she did not have any classes in art or related subjects
until she went to college. While being at Emory & Henry College, she
is not only gaining digital knowledge, but also about painting, art
history, printmaking, and museum study skills. With this knowledge,
she has designed pieces showcased in three different locations, has
put together a Senior Exhibition filled with her work, and has cocurated a show. She has also been lucky enough to have a part time
job being a Gallery Attendant for the McGlothlin Center for the Arts on
the Emory & Henry Campus.

As for after college, she is still looking for work in, or related to
her field of study. She is determined to stay somewhere on the East
Coast whether it is in Northern Virginia or somewhere South of there.
