GOAL/OBJECTIVE (WHAT)
By the end of the lesson, students will be
able to:
- Students will discover more about the letter
Z while working on their Hippopotamus in
the zoo activity.
- Students will write the letter Z on the
paper plates while knowing what it stands
for.

Materials & resources:


Purple cutout shapes of a Hippopotamus
Paper plates
Blue paint
Googly eyes
Trees that we cut out and prepared
Glue
Paint brushes
Markers
Strategies:
Students will sit individually and each
teacher will help a specific group table make
a Hippopotamus out of papers, the
Hippopotamus will be placed on a paper
plate as if it was in the zoo.
Due to the lack of chairs on the table, while
some teachers are helping the students with
the activity Miss Renee will show videos to
the other students while they wait.
Whenever a student finishes her/his activity
she/he will go and switch places with one of
the students that havent done the activity.

ACTIVITIES
Grabber:
We will talk about what they see in the zoo which will excite them
because they love animals, then we will tell them about the
hippopotamus they can see in the zoo and how the going to make
one right now.

Students will separate into the


three tables available, while the
rest sit by the mat area by the
computer with Miss Renee.

Teachers will prepare and provide


needed materials for the activities.
Teachers will distribute the materials
needed and help the students create
a Hippopotamus at the zoo on the
paper plates.
Teachers will help the students finish
their activity and make sure they
understand what theyre doing.

Students will create and build


the Hippopotamus on the paper
plates with the help of the
teachers.

ASSESSMENT (WHAT DID ?)


The teachers will assess the students by showing them where they
should paste the hippopotamus on the paper plate, and the teachers will
help the students to write the letter Z.
