From the Pastor

WELCOME to the

Signal

Through April we paid special

attention to the connection
between giving and blessing. The
Bible is very clear about that, and
the verse printed on the banners
hanging in our Worship Center
through the month should be
an encouragement to all of us.
Its taken from Malachi 3:10 and
says, Bring the full tithe into the
storehouse, that there may be
food in my house. And thereby
put me to the test, says the Lord
of hosts, if I will not open the
windows of heaven for you and
pour down a blessing until there
is no more need. When we give,
we put ourselves in the position
to receive Gods blessing.

Better Together
God gave us a very precious gift when He gave us the gift of friendship,
and were celebrating that all month long.
While we celebrate friendship, your preschoolers will hear about David and
Jonathan. Their story is one of the greatest friendship
stories ever told and truly teaches us all what friendship
is all about. Our preschoolers will hear that friends do lots
of fun things together. We eat together and play together.
Friends take care of one another too. And, friends help one
another. Finally, friends praise God together.

Lunch provided for kids & their families

Is your child considering salvation or baptism? In preparation for

our churchwide Picnic at the River, we are offering this new believers class for elementary kids. Join us for a unique presentation
where parents and kids learn what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We Believe is a one-time class developed
to give kids a clear understanding of the gospel and parents a tool
to help them start talking to their kids about faith. We Believe also
serves as an introduction to baptism.

May Service Project

Daybreak Pregnancy Center is an incredible organization in our
community, and we are proud to support them in their mission to
offer practical services in a compassionate and responsive manner that will encourage women, men and families to choose life for
their pre-born child.
Through the support of churches and organizations like LBC, they were
able to do all of these things last year:

Daybreak saw 1,470 women

Women considering abortion or undecided: 245
Women who chose life for their baby: 133
Clients who accepted Christ: 101
Boyfriends mentored: 131
Ultrasounds performed: 549
Total client visits: 2,538

This month, we cant think of a better way to honor Mothers Day than to support an organization
doing so much to help mothers in need. All month long, we will be collecting baby bottles filled
with change for their ministry. Every child will receive an empty bottle on May 1, and extra
bottles can be picked up in the Childrens Ministry Lobby.
Also, dont forget to stop by the Mothers Day Photo booth and
snap a picture with your family on the childrens building porch
on May 8!

Summer for Students

As we enter into our last month before summer, I just want your family to know that we have a
lot going on this summer for our students! So as you sit down and plan your summer as a family,
be sure to grab our summer newsletter and mark down important dates for your student.
We have summer camp taking place, along with summer Bible study and a few international
mission trips. If your student desires to be a part of our CORE leadership, again or for the first
time, we have a retreat coming up this summer for that, as well. If you have a rising 6th grader
for the 2016-2017 school year, check out the special dates where they are invited
to take part in summer activities with our LBC student ministry. The school
year may be coming to an end, but we are switching gears from our normal
programming to our summer schedule for LBC students! Be on the lookout for
more information concerning the summer!
Thanks,

SENIOR ADULT APPRECIATION

Sunday, May 1

We are taking time at the beginning of May to honor our older adults. Lexington Baptist Church should
be proud of its multi-generational congregation and senior adults certainly take the lead in bridging
the gap. The legacy you pass down to your children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren is a
wonderful testimony to Gods faithfulness in your life.
I know I say this every year, but I want to tell you how thankful I am for every one of you. Our mission here
is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, here in Lexington and around the world. Your service to Him and to
each other makes it possible to fulfill this mission. Your wealth of experience and willingness to serve where you can is a great example to the rest of our church body. Dont
ever lose your desire to serve the Lord. It is one of the hallmarks of our older generation
and it is contagious. You truly are a blessing!

EQUIPPING MINISTRY

Helping you to become fully-devoted disciples of Jesus

We Are Family
As a kid I grew up going fishing at the local reservoir or going to the lake every weekend. As
summer approaches, my mind recalls all those days of being on the water casting my fishing rod
looking for the big catch. Sure, I caught my fair share, and a few were a pretty good size. Some
days we fished on the bottom of the lake seeking Catfish, other days we had lures and sought a
Large Mouthed Bass. To this day, I still get excited about going fishing. Most weekends we would
be at Lake Greenwood about an hour from our home in the upstate of South Carolina. We would
spend all day Saturday and most Sunday afternoons on the water. Hopefully you noticed I said
afternoons. You see, even though we were close to an hour from home, we would rise early on
Sunday mornings to get ready and drive back home for church. When church ended, we would
go back to the lake for the afternoon.
As a kid I wondered, Why? Why are driving all the way back just to go to church? I asked my
dad once why couldnt we just find another church to attend instead of driving all the way back.
His response surprised me: Because that is our family. When we worship together as a church
we are a family. This summer, when you are planning days away at the lake or on the beach,
dont forget to plan to be at LBC with your family.
For Rayna and me, it is so refreshing to be a part of Gods family here at Lexington
Baptist Church. Since August, my family and I have been driving from North
Augusta as we transition to Lexington. Well, on April 23 we moved to Lexington
and are settling in to our new home. We are so excited about the future of our
church and the direction God is leading us.

Electric Chapel Begins This Month!

Join us on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel
of LBC for this mid-week service designed
to reach young adults with the power of the
Gospel. Please note, everyone is welcome, but
our target group is 18-35 year-olds.

What is a worship-leading choir?

These are believers who get together when it fits their schedules.
They like to sing, but they dont have a strong unity of heart and
purpose for what they do.
These are believers who get by
as a choir, but they arent really
tight. If tough times come, they
may easily fall apart.
These are believers who sing as
one family, firmly in a covenant
relationship with God and each
other. Their music and example
inspires the Body of Christ to
worship!

This is you. What are you waiting for?

This is when it gets really good! You are

invited to join us on Wednesday nights
at 7 p.m.!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed

away; behold, the new has come.
-2 Corinthians 5:17
We are so privileged to be a part of what God is doing here in Lexington and around the world. I would
like to share with you some of the ways that LBC members have seen God at work and ask you to rejoice
with us as we celebrate new believers here in our own town of Lexington and also those who are many
miles away in Central Asia.
School Time Bible: In the second week of March, 19 students from Lexington Elementary School left
school in the middle of the day to come to LBC for a Bible education course that started with Genesis 1:1
and gave Bible highlights up until the last verses in Revelation. One student protested at being parentally
forced to come, but by the end of the week had received Christ and was glad for the opportunity to come!
There were six others who also said they had received Christ because of the program. We look forward
to several new families making LBC their church home. Pray for them, as well as how to plan these
programs for the next school year (contributed by Dick McCloy).
Central Asia mission trips: During the month of March, LBC had several members who participated
in mission trips to Central Asia. Several thousand Central Asians were given Good News material, and
hundreds of Central Asians sat for and had face-to-face discussions about the Good News. At this time
we know of 30 Central Asians who became a part of His Kingdom during that time.
Please pray for these new believers, that they will be discipled, will grow strong spiritually
and be obedient to Him as He speaks to them.
