Dear Ms. Hood,
My name is Gabrielle Jeffries and I am a graduate of Arizona State University majoring in
education with a focus in Physical Education. I am certified with a K-12 Physical Education
endorsement while also being highly qualified in middle school science curriculum. I express
with the utmost interest in applying to become a Physical Education teacher at Higley High
School.
Objectives within my Physical Education program are for students to learn through movement
while properly developing motor and manipulative skills related to physical activity. The idea is to
instill in students the knowledge and importance of activity and movement so that they can lead
a healthy life without grading based on skill in order to prevent discouraging students if they try
and fail. There is no absolute content in Physical Education but rather repetition and refinement.
If a student puts forth the effort and has a willing attitude progress will ensue and allow for
success at their own pace.
Physical Education has always been a passion of mine because of its importance in schools
and on childrens healthy development. All of my experiences traveling and volunteering has
helped me gain resources and knowledge that extend beyond the classroom, especially getting
to work directly with diverse school systems.
Thank you for your time and I hope to be considered for an interview in the near future.

Sincerely,

Gabrielle Jeffries

Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Gabrielle Jeffries and I am the Physical Education teacher at Higley High School. I
am a recent graduate of Arizona State University majoring in education with a focus in Physical
Education and a minor in middle school science curriculum. Im originally from Prescott, Arizona
and have competed in a variety of sports and enjoy remaining active on my time off. Physical
Education has always been a passion of mine because of its importance in schools and on
childrens healthy development.
Objectives within this physical education program will remain clear and consistent. The idea is
to instill in students the knowledge and importance of activity and movement so that they can
lead a healthy life. Students are required to put forth the effort and have a willing attitude in
order for progress to ensue and allow for success at their own pace. Both personal and social
development will also result from learning through movement.
Over the course of the school year the students progress will be monitored on a weekly basis
for each unit. Their skill performance will be assessed as either meets or needs improvement.
Any discretion with a student not meeting requirements will be addressed directly with you in
order to decide the necessary action needed to help the student. Product wise, if a student is
struggling with performance I will initiate further assistance individually but will also notify the
parents so that the child can improve outside of the limited class time.
Students deserve the chance to succeed and I believe this system will give them that
opportunity. I am looking forward to this school year and all that is to come!

Sincerely,

Gabrielle Jeffries

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith,
My name is Ms. Jeffries and I am the Physical Education teacher at Higley High School. I am
writing in relation to your son Andrews performance in class.
This year Andrew is enrolled in our Advanced Team Sports class and has struggled thus far
keeping up in the competitive setting. Andrew is a competent athlete and shows enjoyment for
team sports but is not performing at the high level the class requires.
For every sport unit, the students performance is monitored by their progression through all of
the skills and procedures necessary for competition. Andrew has remained at the intermediate
range since the beginning of the school year and may need extra assistance.
A standard individualized lesson plan is a solution that can help Andrews progress through this
course along with additional practice outside of class. This plan will involve Andrew taking more
time during skill practice to improve his motor development and manipulative skills pertaining to
each sport unit. This will not isolate him from the social aspect of the class but rather allow him
the time to work individually in a comfortable setting as well receive one-on-one training. I will
continue to evaluate and track Andrews progress in case there are any further adjustments or
accommodations that need to be made or should be made in order for Andrew to reach his full
potential.
Thank you for your time and concern. Contact me at any time with questions, comments, and
concerns.

Sincerely,

Gabrielle Jeffries
