My level of effort and engagement today was...

(circle one)

Today during the workout session at the Cambridge gym I was fully involved in all the
activities set out for us. I wasnt off task and tried my best to complete the cycle of
exercises in the given. I persevered throughout the sweat and fatigue to try and get the
best result and gave an encouraging attitude to my peers around me. I enjoyed the new
experience of the session today as it was my first with PE Studies.
Explain factors that influenced your participation in the activity.

(How? and Why?)

A factor that influenced my participation today was unfamiliar activity. As I was sick last
week I was unaware what the basis of the workout would involve. I enjoyed the new
experience as it was something unfamiliar because I enjoyed the new experience I was able
to work at a high level and learn new things.
A factor that influenced my participation today was the physical effort required during the
activity. Today at the gym the physical effort shocked me, I found after working at high
intensities I began quickly fatigue and sweat a lot. During the session I could feel the
physical toll on my body especially in the squat jumps as towards the end I could barely
jump.
A factor that influenced my participation today was Motivation. During the gym workout I
motivated my peers around me; I especially motivated my friend Ruby Hannah Hilhorst. As
we were completing the tasks we motivated and cheered each other on. This really helped
to persevere throughout the session.
A factor that influenced my participation today was the challenge. Today the routine that
was set for us to do was very challenging and it put me out of my comfort zone. It was
challenging to continue with the activity whilst your body was so fatigued and sore. As
many of the exercises were new to me it was challenging to complete them correctly, but
once I got the hang of the exercises it became easier.

Explain Level and Factors that influenced participation

Date: 20/6/13
Activity: gym class,
My level of effort and engagement today was...

(circle one)

In todays gym session I was fully involved and consistently participating throughout. I was
consistently on task doing the exercises and putting in my best effort. I listened to the two
instructors throughout the session, while they were giving instructions, feed forward and
feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed the gym session today as doing the exercises at a high level
and consistently was challenging. I enjoyed the challenge given to me by the instructors.
While doing the exercises I supported and encouraged others in the class as they did their
exercise, for example I positively encouraged and they were competing with each other to
see who can hold a plank the longest. I also motivated others to push themselves to the
best of their ability. I think I effected people in my classes effort they put into the exercises
through my constant encouragement and motivation. Although I have not spent much time
in the gym doing those types of exercises, I made an effort to listen and follow the
instructions given to use. I also think I put in a big effort for the exercises as I was tired
after the class.
Explain factors that influenced your participation in the activity.

(How? and Why?)

factor that influenced my participation was the aspect of competition. I am a very

competitive person in whatever I do. I participated the way I did is because I am a very
competitive person at whatever I do and these exercises provided the opportunity for
competition as there were multiple other competitive people that I wanted to finish quicker
than. I think by me doing this it effected other competitive people to finish the exercises
before me.
Another factor that influenced my participation was the fun and enjoyment I had doing the
exercises today. I enjoy doing high intensity exercise. I enjoyed challenging myself
constantly and working at a high intensity throughout the sessions. This fun and enjoyment
I had influenced me to perform better as I enjoy pushing myself harder and harder till can
not exercise anymore.
Another factor that influenced my participation was my current level of fitness. As my
current level of fitness is quite good I could perform at a high intensity for longer than I
would be able to if I was not very well trained, because I would physically not be able to
perform to the same standard that I did today if I was not very well trained.

Explain Level and Factors that influenced participation

Date:19/06/2013
Activity: Strength & Core Workout
My level of effort and engagement today was...

(circle one)

The strength & core exercise today was an activity that I enjoyed and thus was heavily
engaged in. I made sure that I followed instructions as required and listened to the
instructor. I checked the whiteboard (with guidelines) often so that i stayed on track and
got the workouts full benefits. As I was next to a few mates during the workout, we all
encouraged each other and tried to compete with one another. This meant that there was a
competitive edge which made it both more enjoyable and got me more involved in the
activity.
Explain factors that influenced your participation in the activity.

(How? and Why?)

The core workout today was a good experience because it was an activity that my peers
and I could work together to complete. This was a factor that influenced my participation as
it was encouraging comments from my fellow classmates that mentally aided my
motivation. Because our motivational words complimented each other, we strived to better
ourselves and our mates around us. This positively affected my involvement in the activity.
Another factor that influenced my participation during this activity was the instructors
confidence and communication with the class. He was successful today because he pushed
us with the intent of making us work harder. At the end of the session this made me feel
good as there was a sense of achievement by completing the workout to a high standard.
A factor that influenced my participation was the fact that i was carrying a niggle in my
mid torso. As the workout went on, I felt that i couldnt perform at my best but i still
worked as hard as i could at the time. Because the workout involved me using this area a
lot, the injury was hard to avoid but it was something that i felt i adapted to well by pacing
myself.
The final factor that influenced my participation was the constant use of muscles that i
would not usually use in my day-to-day exercise. There were a lot of press-ups involved
and this was an area in which i struggled at as my upper body strength is not great. This
meant that i was sometimes slow in what i did, but i felt that the quality was at a fairly high
standard as i tired during the activity.

Booty Blast Gym Session

My level of effort and engagement today was...

(circle one)

I believe I tried my hardest and pushed myself very well today. I went beyond the point
where I would normally stop because I would be sore, and stayed focused and carried on. I
made sure I was engaged listening to the instructions for each set of exercise; I needed to
know what to do so I could be fully involved. I supported others around me, such as when
there were two boys left in the plank hold contest, I cheered them on and encouraged them
to carry on. I was reaching points in the workout when my muscles would shake and my
body would give way due to my lack of fitness so I knew I had to stop and rest. This was
not because I wanted to stop for a quick break, this was me being responsible for my body
and knowing my limits.
I felt I worked really well with my fitness ability and with a determined mind-set.
Explain factors that influenced your participation in the activity.

(How? and Why?)

Factors that influenced me during the exercise were the social competition. I know my peers, so
there was a little competition between me and my friends on who can finish the set fastest or
hold the plank for longer. Even know we never said we were racing each other, it was that we
are all competitive people.
My attitude and the attitude of the instructor also influenced the activity. With my self
determination to try my hardest and the encouragement from the instructor, it really impacted
on my performance. When someone other than yourself is telling you that you can do it, and
giving you advice, it really helps and you feel better about yourself emotionally.
Having a challenge was also a factor. I knew from the start it was not going to be easy but I
love the thought of a challenge. With not having the activity too easy or only a little hard, made
it a bigger goal to complete and having satisfaction that you completed something challenging.

Booty Blast Gym Session

My level of effort and engagement today was...

(circle one)

I thougth my level of effort was pretty good today. I got involved in all the sessions that we
did and worked my hardest at the classes. I enjoyed working out with my class and getting
a real sweat on in the class. iT made a real difference having all my friends there to work
out with as this would usually be something that I would not go to.
Explain factors that influenced your participation in the activity.
(How? and Why?)

A factor that influenced my participation was facilities. I think overall going to the
classes was great to see what is out there in the community to use and what activities
that they offer not only at the moment but also when I leave school. I think the two
activities that I would mostly use would be the indoor sports centre as I like team
games. I would also use the gym, the hydroslides and the aerobics classes. I think all
this variety would encourage me to get active.
.

Another factor that influenced my participation was cost. Cost might be a factor that
would stop me joining up to the classes centre, it is quite a lot of money to join and we
just dont have that kind of money to spend on a membership. I might be able to join
other teams that dont cost as much to make myself more active or just use the school
gym if I wanted to do weights.

My level of effort and engagement today was...

(circle one)

I worked hard within my team today by making sure that I did my best for my friends and
the team. This meant getting involved when we were playing and making sure that I didnt
slack off in defense or attack. If I wanted a break I would sub off so that I didnt let the
team down. I got a real sense of achievement out of today and enjoyed playing and being
involved. I also made my team mate more responsive to me during the game.
Explain factors that influenced your participation in the activity.
(How? and Why?)

A factor that influence my participation was co-poeration and competition After the
debriefs that we have been having at the end of each session I have really enjoyed
looking at competition and co-operation, it has made me more aware of inclusion,
accepting diversity and tolerance. This has helped me and my participation as I want to
play more when I think everyone is having fun and being used rather than just winning.
A factor that influence my participation was Fun and enjoyment. I think is good that we
are not just focussing on winning, everyone in our team has been very nice to play with
and this has made the game much more enjoyable and fun. It is making me feel part of
the team which encourage me to play more and participate more actively in all the
activities.
