CLASSIC KITCHEN
WEVE GOT
THE LOOK!
GOING GREEN
ARTISTIC ABODE
The store transports you to the
richness of the past. Many
pieces displayed draw
inspiration from the Mughal,
Rajput and the Gandharva
period. Located in Khar West,
the store has three levels that
comprise everythingfrom
jewellery to furniture.
FYI
Kitchen up-keep
While it is important to have a smart
kitchen, it is equally essential to keep it
healthy and hygienic

TILES/FLOORING
Sweep the kitchen floor everyday
to prevent build-up of dust,
grime and grit, and then mop it
with a disinfectant. Keep the tiles
clean with any tile cleaning
detergent.

A STORE WITH A
DIFFERENCE
We have a unique
concept of housing
fantastic Indian art
collaborating jewellery
with interiors, fashion
and lifestyle. The Big
Door is a gallery more than a retail store, showcasing products
with concepts. We also customise doors and ceilings. While the
doors are inspired from traditional haveli doors; the ceilings
display antique mirror and hand-painted wooden work that used
to be seen in the darbars in the Mughal era.
TRENDY TIPS
For the kitchen: Make it interesting
with standalone pieces like an old
traditional pram that can be
converted into a mini bar; an old
boat-shelf from Kerala to showcase
fine crockery.
For the drawing room: Use a
conversation piece as the highlight of
this space. Use heritage collectibles
like silver mirrors, marble artefacts or
brass sculptures to accessorise.
QUIRKY COLLECTION
A vintage looking distressed
console with 50 numbered
drawers; glass paintings of
viceroys painted in the
reverse technique; patina
finish cast iron old bench
with velvet cushions meant
for the living room; mirror
with antique wooden frame
placed on an easel.
LIFE KING-SIZE
Your place is a definition of what
you are. You can add personality to a
space with conversation pieces. If
you have an eye for Indian art or
appreciate the craftsmanship of
Indian artefacts, then you can
certainly see these elements in your
living area. Make your space look dressy by adding smaller
accents like traditional velvet cushion covers embellished with
beautiful Indian motifs, or marble artefacts like lotus-shaped
tea light holders.

ARCHITECT SPEAK
EXCERPTS:
Tell us about your professional
and personal background.
Life for me has been a process
of continuous evolution and
learning. CEPT University in
Ahmedabad gave me the
necessary skillset to pursue a
career in architecture and
design. My passion towards this
field and my understanding of
design matured from my
exposure at Bouwkundethe
highly acclaimed design school
at the Delft University of
Technology in the Netherlands.
This is where I got addicted to
architecture and architectural
explorations. After winning
many competitions, I eventually
established Archohm. I work
across a cross-section of project
types and scalesfrom product
and furniture development,
infrastructure to urban
solutions. The focus, as always,
is purely on design.
designers to facilitate an
interesting interdisciplinary
flavour. Our company stands for
a young and fun approach to
spatiality, which enables a play
of light, volumes and materials.
