Reflection about write three digit numbers:

On Wednesday, March 2, 2016, I taught a lesson about write three digit numbers, this was my
first lesson. At the beginning of the class, I told them a story about three animals (fish,
Penguin, and kangaroo). I said the fish able to write one digit number (6), the kangaroo can
write two digit numbers (25), and the penguin can write three digit numbers (355). I asked
them to read the numbers and say the place value of each digit. I also showed them the base
ten blocks and asked them about the name of each cube; I wrote numbers, and I asked
students about the place value of each digit. Then I gave each student one small board. I put
the pictures of Base 10 blocks (tens and ones) on the board. For example, I put two tens and
five ones. I asked students to write the two-digit number on the small board (25), I did that
three times. After that, I said before "you are a just friend for fish and kangaroo" but today
you will be a friend for a penguin. Our lesson for today will be about write three digit
numbers. Then I show them three boxes (ones, tens, and hundreds). I asked them to guess
what inside the boxes? Then I asked them to count the blocks that inside the boxes.
Moreover, I draw a schedule on the board, and I divided into three section (ones, tens, and
hundreds). I asked them to write the number that the blocks represented under each section.
I asked them to write it as the whole number then I will ask them to read it. After that, I gave
each group a card divided into three section ones, tens and hundred also I gave them pictures
of cubes (tens, ones and hundred); each group got a different number of cubes. I asked them
to count the cubes and to write the three-digit number on the card, each number under each
section. I asked students to present their answer. I gave each student a paper divided into
three section (ones, tens and hundred) and one card contained the picture of base ten blocks.
I asked them to write a three-digit number on the paper. I asked them to write the whole
number at the back of the paper. After they finish, I asked students to open students book
page 37 and solve the questions. I used the iPad, (number pieces app). I represented threedigit numbers by using the number pieces app. I asked students to write the number on the
small board.
I think the time management went well because I finished the lesson at the time. In the
engagement, I told them a story. Then I gave each student one small board. I put the pictures
of Base 10 blocks (tens and ones) on the board. I asked them to write the two-digit number
on the small board; I did that three times, and it took 10 minutes. In the core, I showed them
how to write three digit numbers. Then I gave each group, a card divided into three section
ones, tens and hundred also I gave them pictures of cubes (tens, ones and hundred); each

group got a different number of cubes. I asked them to count the cubes and to write the threedigit number on the card, and it took 15 minutes. In the close, I gave each student a paper
divided into three section (ones, tens and hundred) and one card contained the picture of base
ten blocks. I asked them to write a three-digit number on the paper. I asked them to write the
whole number at the back of the paper. After they finish, I asked students to open students
book page 37 and solve the questions. I used the iPad, (number pieces app). I represented
three-digit numbers by using the number pieces app. I asked students to write the number on
the small board, and it took 15 minutes.
My classroom management was good, and I controlled the students. I let students work as
groups and individual. Furthermore, I used eye contact with all pupils. However, I faced a
problem with a group who finish their work early. So next time I will try to use group
reinforcement strategy. For example, on the board I will write the name of the groups, I will
5 points for speed, 10 points for answer correctly, and 10 points for quiet and organization. I
will give a star for a group who get more points. The materials that I used were PPT contains
a story, cards, base ten blocks, and boxes. The strategy that works well was when I told them
I will just choose the quit students.
After I had taught the lesson, the students can write three-digit numbers; I knew that when I
represented three-digit numbers by using number pieces app and I asked them to write the
number on the small board. They solved it correctly. They also respond to the students
book correctly.
I am very satisfied with the feedback that my MST gave it for me. I agreed with my MST
when she said, you shouldnt walk around and check students work, you can show them the
answers and let them check their answers by themselves honestly. So next time I will try to
show them the answers and let them check their answers by themselves. Furthermore, I will
try to ask students to check to their partners. Moreover, I felt happy when she said, "I like
your lesson and activates. In addition, I felt proud when she wrote many positives about me
such as you put important rules during teaching the lesson and you use different and new
strategies. Next lessons, I will do my best to apply the group and individual reinforcement
strategy to manage the classroom.
