Description

Discussion Director

Responsible for prompting discussion and moving the conversation


forward with questions that incite and sustain conversation
surrounding the plot and major themes of the reading.

Researcher

Responsible for looking up background information on any topic


related to the reading.

This might include:


the geography, culture, history of the setting
information about the author, her/his life, other works
information about the time period
pictures, objects, materials that illustrate elements of the text
history/derivation of words or names
music that reflects the subject matter or the time
This student must research three topics and describe how they relate
to the section of reading due that meeting.
Literary Luminary

Responsible for locating four significant selections of text to share


with the group and states their reasons for choosing those meaningful
selections for textual analysis of larger ideas.

Illustrator

Responsible for creating an image that relates to the designated


section of the text. Students can illustrate a scene as they imagined it,
create a thematic representation of a key quote, depict a characters
inner thoughts, or show an association they had with the reading.
Students can submit a digital drawing or take a picture of the work
they did on paper. When they finish drawing, students must choose 3
details from their illustration and explain them in a table provided on
this job sheet.

Canvas Crusader

The Canvas Crusader is responsible for taking notes and paying close
attention to how their book club operates during discussion so they
can relay the information to Ms. Dawson by posting a summary on
Canvas*.
The posting should include:
1) what your club discussed
2)how you discussed it
3)any points of conflict/disagreement in discussion
4)questions that came up as a result of the discussion
The Canvas Crusader will record their groups full 30 minute
discussion and send the audio to Ms. Dawson.
