Forpart2ofyour2ndquarterbenchmark,youwilluseseveralkeyconceptsfromour
explorationsofprobability,statistics,anddataanalysis.Inagroup,youwillfocusonone
majorsocialjusticethemedissueintheUS.Youmaychooseoneofthesuggestedfocal
topics(listedbelow),oryoumaycreateaproposalforyourownsocialjusticethemed
topic.

Onceyouhavedecidedonyourtopic,youwillengageinresearchfocusedonstatistical
analysisofyourtopic.
Allsourcesmustbecitedforthisproject.
Onceyouhave
conductedextensivedatabasedresearch,youwillcollaborateasagrouptocreatethe
following:

Adetailedwrittenreport,whichgoesmoreindepthintoyoumathematicalanalysis.You
mustclearlyoutlineallofyourrelevantdatainthereport.
Additionally,thereisan
individualcomponentforthereport.Inthereport,eachindividualmemberofyour
groupisresponsiblefordoingthefollowing(andidentifyingwhichsectionsare
theirown):
1. Analyzingatleastoneaspectofdataintermsofcentraltendency.Thisshould
includeafocusonmean,median,mode,range,quartiles,andIQR,andshouldalso
includeatleasttwooriginalpercentagebasedstatementsaboutyourdata.
2. Analyzingatleastoneaspectofthedataintermsofbothprobabilityandodds.For
thiscomponent,youshouldincludebothindependentanddependentprobability
ifpossible.
3. Creatingatleasttwovisualrepresentationsofkeycomponentsofyourdata.
4. Bonus:
Ifpossible,includepermutationsandcombinationsinyourwrittenreport.
5. Asagroup
:Yourreportmustexplainwhyyourtopiccouldbeconsideredasocial
injusticeandconcludewithaRecommendationsforFutureActionsection.In
thissection,youshouldcollaboratewithyourgroupmemberstocreatespecific
recommendationsforhowwe,asasociety,canworktoeliminatesocialinjustices
thatexist.Discusshowthegraphs/visualrepresentationsmightchangeifthese

interventionswereimplementedonalargescale.Inthissection,youshould
includeasmanyspecificrecommendationsaspossible,andyour
recommendationsshouldbebasedinmathematics!
