The War on Peace
The war on terror has been a very controversial topic in todays society. President Barack
Obama recently decided to accept 200,000 Syrian refugees into America which has received very
mixed feedback. People have had varying responses to this decision for a few reasons. Some
people wanted to do the right and noble thing and are gladly welcoming the refugees, while
others are less pleased as they fear for the safety and well-being of their country and its people.
Ultimately, the choice to take in so many refugees at this time is a noble one, but is the wrong
one. It is not only an unnecessary risk to American citizens, but is also a strain on the economy in
this time of war. This risk is an unnecessary one because we already have soldiers out in the
Middle East, it would be much less of a threat to the American people if we were to set up
outposts in the Middle East for refugees to come to for protection and care. Our economy is also
already struggling with our current population and adding thousands more to it may cause it to
collapse. There is also a wide spread racism in America towards Middle Eastern people, and
although we are saving them from their country, they may still face all new dangers in America.
All in all, accepting these refugees is not the wise choice at the time being.
America has been at risk from many terrorist organizations for a number of years.
However, America has not been the only victim of the atrocious acts. Many other countries have
suffered violent acts of terrorism such as the recent attacks in Paris. Letting in refugees from the
same country that serves as the point of origin for many of the terrorist actions can serve as a risk

of infiltration from terrorist organizations. At least one of the Paris terrorists who killed more
than 120 people on Friday entered Europeembedded in the current wave of Syrian war
refugees. Although bringing these refugees in is a good thing to do, we endanger many lives by
risking terrorists sneaking into our country alongside actual refugees. These refugees need help
and we are capable of providing it, however, the screening process has been outed as not being
thorough enough to truly be safe, and there is a risk of terrorists taking advantage of this by
joining refugees and entering our country. There is indeed a small chance that there would be no
infiltrating terrorists, but the likelihood of hidden terrorists is higher than not. Several political
figures have voiced concerns over the screening process of refugees as not being thorough
enough. My concern there is there are certain gaps ... in the data available to us, Comey said.
There is risk associated of bringing anybody in from the outside, but specifically from a conflict
zone like that, he added. According to FBI Director James Comey, we do not have enough
information about this area to safely determine whether or not we are at risk from any of the
refugees we admit into our country. Also admitted by Nicholas Rasmussen, the head of the
National Counterterrorism Center, The intelligence that we have of this particular conflict zone
is not as rich as we would like it to be. This means that our country is at a high risk of being
infiltrated by terrorists much like France recently experienced. Being that we dont have much
information about these areas means we dont know quite what to look for or where to look when
doing these screening processes. Our ignorance of these things will make it much easier for
members of terrorist organizations to surreptitiously enter our country, thus placing our citizens,
along with the innocent refugees, at risk of a terrorist attack. Risk of infiltration is not the only
reason this would be a bad idea at this time, we would also be risking a collapse of our already
strained and overpopulated economy.

Americas population is already much too large and provides a strain on the economy.
The addition of thousands of grown adults to the United States economy could prove disastrous.
The United States is already overpopulated in the sense that we are consuming our national
ecological resources at an unsustainable rate. We are already consuming all of our natural
resources and the only way to fix it is to have a lower population. Adding many more people to
our countrys national population will intensify the drain on our natural resources. Not only is
our nations resources at stake from the overpopulation, but our national debt will likely rise as
well.
