ADAPTATIONS

Through observation, Conversation, and hands on

activities I will make a check list of who is understanding
the lesson and who needs more help. I will use this
information to adjust the lesson to make sure every
student meets the objective.
Formative Assessments- A mix of observation and
conversation will be used to assess how the children are
learning and if accomdentions need to be made. I will
also use a felt or magnet board with removable body
parts that the children can place on a picture of a
person.
Summative Assessments At the end of the lesson
the children will use a graphic organizer to write what
body parts they know and how we use them.
Body parts for kids by Tinytapps (APP)
For a child with ADHD I would make sure there is breaks
inbetween lessons to get up and walk around, I would
also have a lot of hands on acivites to keep their
attiention.
For a child at a higher level of learning then the other
students I would have them name more of the body
parts that are inside the body and then have them ( if
they feel comfortable) teach the other children about
what they learned.
For a child that has limited use of their hands I would an

ipad or computer that they can use to make the graphic

organizer, if technology is not available or not working I
would have them work with a friend that can do the
writing for them or they can use the felt board to
demonstrate what they have learned.
Before you may proceed to creating the step-by-step lesson
plan procedures on the next page, your supervising
teacher/cooperating teacher/professor must approve this plan
with his/her signature/initials.

Note:
Before students can begin the lesson plan step-by-step procedures on the next page,
they are required to complete this first page and receive the supervisor/professors
signature. The Education Departments goal is to have students address critical
components of the learning before they begin choosing activities.

Learning Plan
Introduction

Explicit
Instructions

Upon what prior lessons and learning objectives with

students is this lesson built? Specifically relate how this
lesson will incorporate the PA standards.
Activating Prior Knowledge
We will talk about what they know about their bodies
and what body parts they already know
Hook/Lead-In/Anticipatory Set
We will sing head, shoulders, knees, and toes
We will read This is my body and these are my
parts by Talia M. Newman
Big Idea Statement
~ Today we are going to learn about our bodies and
the different parts.
Essential Question Statement
What body parts can you see?
What body parts cant you see?
How do we use them?
Objective Statement
By the end of our lesson you should be able to tell
me 10 body parts you can see and 3 you cant as
well as how we use them. Do you think you guys can
do that?
Transition
When the children are moving from one part of the
room to the other they will make a noise or gesture
with one of there body parts for example they will
cup their hands over their ears and listen and then

PreAssessment of the Students
~ We will have a group discussion and then the
children will use an graphic organizer to write out
what body parts they know and what they know
about how we use them and then I will go over them
and place them in groups in order to help each child
meet the objective
Modeling of the Concept
I will create a graphic organizer on the board
that the class will fill in togather.
I will use the felt or magnet board at the
beginning of the lesson to help me get an idea
of what the children already know and In using
it I will be showing the children how they are
espected to use it.
Guiding the Practice
I will observe the children as they play
I will ask children questions to see if they are
understanding.
I will look for the children doing the activities
and them actually being engaged
I will also look for understanding in how well
they are doing the activities and how many
questions they are asking me or the other
students
Providing the Independent Practice
They will use a felt board or magnet board to place
body parts on a body
They will do a group activity where some of the
children have labels of the body parts and others
have cards that say what we use them for , they

have to look for the child with the matching card and
then place it on a child that was picked to be the
model.
Transition
They will do transitions using their bodys so for
example they will jump, or they will be really quiet
and listen for sounds outside the room.
Felt or magnet board, paper, crayons, markers,
labels
IPad This is my body and theses are the parts APP
I will use a white board or chalk board and chalk or
white board markers well demonstrating.
Formal Evaluation
I will use a check list
The children will turn in their completed
graphic organizers
Informal Evaluation
Observation and communication will be the methods
I will use to evaluate the children, I will use what I
get from this evaluation to make changes to the
lesson.
Summary & Review of the Learning
How many body parts did you learn today? Will
asked during a group discussion.
They will use a graphic organizer to show what they
have learned.
Homework/Assignments
They will have to show the app and graphic
organizer to someone at home and teach them what
they learned , the person will sign the graphic
organizer indicating that the child did their work.
How do you know what students have learned?
Which students did not master the concept?
How will you address this lack of mastery?
How would you change this lesson the next time you
teach it?
What changes would you make to the differentiation
techniques you used?
What evidence do you have of students learning
and what other ways would you collect this
evidence?
Write down students comments about this lesson
their ideas are valuable and can help you strengthen
the lesson.
