1st question /
request

This box shows your time

remaining. It also shows how
loud you are speaking. Speak
clearly, but dont shout. The zigzag line shows how loud your
voice is.

2nd
question

3rd
question

You have 45
seconds to
describe the
picture. Try to
keep talking for
the whole time.
Youll get more
marks if your
answer has a
clear structure
with an
introductory
sentence and a
conclusion.

2nd question.
More
challenging.
Often requires
analysis or
evaluation.

3rd question.
Notice that the
example
requires
personalisation
you talk about
something
personal to you.

The two pictures

will be linked in
some way. Can
you see what
these two
pictures have in
common?

2nd question. Notice

the use of would.
Its asking you to
imagine or
hypothesise about a
situation.

3rd question. Again,

would is used. But
this time you have
to make a choice
and provide a
reason for your
choice.

In part 4, you should

not describe the
photograph. Its just
a visual aid.

Choose what youre

going to talk about
quickly. Make as
many notes as you
can. Dont try to
write sentences.

Part 4 is the most

challenging part of the
exam, and is designed to
distinguish between B2
and C levels. Youll need to
talk for the full 2 minutes
and provide a wellstructured, coherent
answer to get top marks!

Good luck!
