Please provide
honest, thoughtful, and detailed
responses for each question to receive credit.
The Book
1. What book did you read?
- The Perks of being a Wallflower
2. What are your overall impressions of this book?
a. What did you enjoy most about it?
- I enjoyed seeing other people's reactions to the things that happened in the book.
To see if they were the same as mine were or completely different.
b. What parts were challenging to understand or get into?
- One part that was challenging was that the book brought up a lot of controversial
topics which we would spend too much of the time we had arguing about what was
right or wrong, such as why is it okay for a woman to smack a man but not a man to
smack a woman? Is that fair? We got into a heated argument about that.
3. In what ways did your book explore the themes of identity and belonging that we discussed
in class?
- The ways we explored the themes of identity and belonging was that the whole book was
about a boy trying to find himself and find where he belongs. We discussed the idea of
change from one year to the next. How some people change the way they are to feel like
they belong.
Book Club Meetings
4. What are the names of your book club group members?
- Colin, Ariana, Sarah, and Sydney
5. Using a scale of 1-10 (1 being super unpleasant and 10 being super awesome), rate the
overall experience of your 8 book club meetings. Please explain why by answering:
- Overall a 7
a. What did you enjoy most about your small group discussions?
- I enjoyed most seeing what people did for their jobs, it sort of showed their
interests, ideas, and thoughts while still involving the book.
b. What challenges did you face in organizing and executing your discussions?
- The challenges we faced were knowing when to speak. We would just bounce ideas
and thoughts off of each other but sometimes two people would want to speak so
one would be interrupted and it always seemed like it was the two same people

being interrupted every meeting. Also we needed to sort of consider people's

feelings a little more than did so no one gets up set.
c. Describe your favorite book club discussion. What was the topic and why was it
meaningful?
- My favorite book club discussion which I mentioned before is the question why is it
okay for a woman to hit a man but not okay for a man to hit a woman? It was an
amazing discussion a lot of different opinions and views. Also I just wanted to
mention a comment Ariana made in the very first meeting she questioned
whyis
shesacrificingherhappinessforpeoplethatdontmakeherhappy?
I just
wanted to mention that.
6. Using a scale of 1-10 (1 being super unpleasant and 10 being super awesome), rate the
overall experience of working with your groupmates.
Please be honest and detailed in

commenting on the work ethic and contributions of each group member.

- Overall a 8
a. What worked well?
- What worked well was how we all did our work and we all came to every meeting
which made it so no one had to do extra work.
b. What was challenging?
- Not much in the book club Colin would just get angry when no one would listen to
him that it pretty much it, but filming is when it went all down hill. We also had
trouble with the reading aspect some people wouldnt read to the page we set so we
would end up spoiling it.
c. .How did your group members contributions affect the quality of your discussions?
- My group members contributions affected the quality of our discussions by having
some great ideas, questions, and statements that really made you think. Especially
Ariana and Sarah they were the ones that always brought amazing ideas and
thoughts into our discussions that really kept it going and made you think a lot
about life.
The Final Project
7. What did your group choose to do for the final project? A trailer or scene reenactment?
- We chose the trailer for our final project.
8. Describe the process of creating your video.
a. What worked well?
- What would well was that we all contributed in some way.
b. What was challenging?
- So many things were challenging. Trying to figure out when and what we were
going to film was a mess. I ended up writing most of the script, then Colin decided
to change a bunch of stuff. There was literally no communication between us. I
would end up the whole time we were filming asking the same question a million
times but it still wouldnt be answered. People didnt know their lines so it made it
hard to film. To conclude we werent even able to finish or get good shoots of the
most important scenes because Sydney and Colin got into an argument that lasted a
half n hour. Im just going to put this out there NEVER PUT COLIN AND

SYDNEY IN THE SAME GROUP. They will just end up getting mad at each other
and messing everything up, leaving the other people in the group frustrated and
angry about how they couldnt get anything done.
c. Overall, to what extent are you satisfied with the final product? Please explain.
- Im not satisfied with it. I think that if we really buckled down and worked together
we wouldnt have had so many conflicts and we would have been able to do all the
scenes. Even the ones Colin wanted to do. Also when I watched the credits I
realized my name was spelled wrong so that was nice.
9. The expectation for this assignment was that each group member made significant and
equal contributions to the final product. Please be honest and detailed in commenting on
the work ethic and contributions of each group member.
- Ariana:
She worked very hard to learn her lines and be apart of the filming. She did
everything she had to, to get the project done.
- Sarah:
She worked hard on filming and editing the trailer. She did everything she could to
calm everyone down and help everyone work through their anger so that we could
complete the project.
- Sydney:
She worked hard on the editing and filming but caused so much conflict that she
sort of made it impossible to film without making Colin angry. She was also being a drama
queen about sitting on the floor and being a part of some of the scenes. If she would have
just done what we agreed on then it would have taken half the time to do the scenes
- Colin:
He worked hardish on everything. He worked the hardest on the script. He did what
he was suppose to and just had an outburst because of Sydney's wrong information.
