1, [highly recommend SSgt Nicholas J. Harrod for the Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program.
He is a standout member of the United States Air Forces in Europe-United States Air Forces
‘Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) Commander's Action Group. SSgt Harrod’s leadership is on
constant display as Travel Coordinator for the Commander, USAFE-AFAFRICA. He is
responsible for planning and coordinating senior leader travel across three continents in support
of two Combatant Commands. SSgt Harrod’s ability to build instant rapport with general
officers, senior national and international leaders, and their support staffs ensured the successful
completion of 53 MAJCOM Commander engagements.
2, SSgt Harrod’s outstanding leadership, impeccable work ethic, and unparalleled integrity has
made him an invaluable player on my team. He never backs down from a challenge, and with a
full workload, he continually seeks to increase his professional and personal development. SSgt
Harrod has excelled at every position he has held. During his time as an Aerospace Ground
Equipment Scheduler, SSgt Harrod was instrumental in incorporating AFSO21 initiatives in his
squadron and was selected to brief the Commander, USAFE, on their benchmarked program.
‘Additionally, he led the effort that saw his flight program rated #1 in USAFE. SSgt Harrod’s
superior performance was recognized as he was selected to be the Travel Coordinator to the
‘Commander, 3d Air Force. During his time there, he expertly planned 85 worldwide visits and
‘managed a $484,000 dollar travel budget. Off-duty, SSgt Harrod is a dedicated community
leader, involved with both the Wounded Warrior Foundation and Fisher House. His time and
efforts have helped raise over $70,000 in funds for these organizations.
2, I give SSgt Harrod my highest recommendation for the Nurse Enlisted Commissioning
Program. He is an extremely valuable Air Force member with a proven track record of
leadership and dedication to both his military family and his community. SSgt Harrod is a
phenomenal leader who performs flawlessly in any environment and will excel as an officer and
Nurse.2

1. Thave been active duty in the Air Force for nearly 30 years, the last 11 years as a First
Sergeant, and the last 3 years as the First Sergeant for the Air Force’s Major Command spanning
three continents and one-eighth of the world’s population. In my time I have met few Non-
commissioned Officers with the passion, dedication and abilities of Sgt Harrod. Since he
arrived at Ramstein AB, Germany, SSgt Harrod has impressed me with his intense desire to
learn, devotion to duty and constant professionalism. Not only does he display a solid
understanding of time-management, organizational skills and leadership ability, but he does it all
with an infectious smile upon his face.
2, ‘SSgt Harrod is applying for the Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program, and I couldn't be
more thrilled. Without reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend him for this tremendously
important position. I reviewed SSgt Harrod’s records and affirm he has a current security
clearance of SECRET, is not on a control roster and does not have an unfavorable information
file or other derogatory actions pending
3. As the Executive Assistant to the USAFE-AFAFRICA Command Chief, SSgt Harrod planned
and executed multiple distinguished visitor trips, constructed mission briefings, and led ten
executive assistants in five countries through many mission-critical taskings. He coordinated and.
planned senior military leader visits to Europe and Africa, arranging visitation to over 30,000
‘Airmen increasing communication and motivation. SSgt Harrod facilitated bi-weekly video-
teleconferences with all command chief’ in Europe and Africa and arranged several senior leader
conferences permitting twenty-five senior leaders in the command to effectively discuss, adjust,
and create command goals and visions. Lastly, Sgt Harrod’s quick reactions, calm demeanor,
and ingenuity saved the Air Force an excess of $200,000 in travel funds as he swiftly corrected
numerous travel changes and challenges.
4, Summing it up, I believe Nick’s professionalism, coupled with his communicative skills and
leadership ability, make him a positive addition to any team and a perfect fit for the Nurse3

1. Toffer my highest recommendation to Sgt Nicholas J. Harrod for the Nurse Enlisted
Commissioning Program. SSgt Harrod is an exceptional noncommissioned officer and I have no
doubt he would be an equally exceptional officer and caregiver. 1 would definitely recommend
this individual to be an officer in my command,
2. SSgt Harrod has been an asset to me and to the command. He possesses an uncanny ability to
eam and quickly adapt to new situations always ensuring mission success. As the executive
assistant to my Command Chief, Nick ensured that our command team was aware of those
critical issues affecting our enlisted force and allowed us to quickly respond to their needs.
Currently, as member of my Commander's Action Group, SSgt Harrod has proved invaluable as
atrip planner, He has flawlessly planned and executed numerous trips enabling my engagement
across the EUCOM and AFRICOM areas of responsibility resulting in us building improved
partnership capabilities in support of both the US and NATO. Nick’s efforts have helped enable
our forward presence and truly made the command FORWARD, READY, and NOW!
3. SSgt Harrod’s career is one reflected in excellence, and I know he would be a valuable asset
to any organization. Do the right thing for Nick and our Air Force by choosing him for the
