We were able to understand how the Citibank manage its system through the
use of BMS which stands for Business Management System. It is used to control
the mechanical and electrical equipment in the building. It controls, monitors and
optimizes the buildings mechanical and electrical equipment. It has full control
and monitoring of different sites on a central system. The system has databeses.
The database is the key to the entire system. It is fascinating to see that every
single cctv cameras are operating and connected to a monitor to ensure safety and
protection. This system is installed in the buildings of Citibank which makes it
possible. The information regarding the operation in the building can be found in
the database which is said to be the key to the entire system. The administration is
able to use this system through the controllers. The process of the BMS and how it
is operated was explained well to us. This system can provide order, safety and
efficiency for the administration. The system maybe a little complicated but it
provides efficiency and it makes the work easier.
The specific functions of the BMS was enumerated and explained in the
lecture. It provides directory, easy way of working with the schedules, managing
the alarms and controlling other equipment used in the building. Each equipment
has its own way of how to control it. All of these equipment is connected to the
system which makes it easily manageable and easily controlled by the
administration. The BMS is convenient to the administration and should be further
developed and used by other companies that manage a large system.
