Jessen, Leah Fatal Shooting of Congressman Grandfather Prompts Him to Urge Mental Health Reform,
Not Gun Control. The Daily Signal, http://dailysignal.com/2016/01/07.
In Jessens article Fatal Shooting of Congressman Grandfather Prompts Him to Urge Mental Health
Reform, Not Gun Control. Jessen points out the Congressmans thoughts on the question at hand, even
though the Congressman and his family lost their Grandfather at the hands of someone with a mental
illness, and even though it devastated his family they pulled together and sought out the real problem. Its
not the stricter gun control that is needed, its a need for more help for people with mental health issues.
Jessen points out that the Congressman takes gun violence seriously, what he really means is that gun
violence is not a laughing matter it is important to get tougher gun laws. Jessen points out that we need
more help and better policies for people with mental health issues.
Jessen is a credible source for my paper, in his article there are areas that you can go into that will take
you to another article, and in some way be part of the article that you are reading. Then he talks about
United States Congressman who says yes, the executive action may be good but this is not what is needed
the most. Jessen points out how the Congressman uses his own personal tragedy and looks at the bigger
picture here and it is to get help for the mentally ill.
I agree with what Jessen wrote in this article, to me was one of the best sources to help me with my paper,
reading this article pointed out a lot of facts that needs to be researched more. In this article, there is also
an interview with the Congressman. There is a lot to be said about this article and its importance to my
paper and the question at hand.

and Participating in Mental Health Care. Association for Psychological Science,

In this article, that was written by three different individuals, points out many different viewss on
individuals with mental health issues, they tell us how mental illness has such a wide reach on individuals
no matter their age, gender, race, religion. They point out many different areas how mental illness affects
their every day to day life, their education, jobs, their physical health. They point out to us how mental
illness comes in different conditions, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. And they
show us how the stigma this is limiting care for people with all different kinds of mental illness
conditions, and because of this is discouraging people from getting the proper help that they need.
Corrigan, Duss, Perlick, are recognized in the Association for Psychological Science (APS), these three
individuals have very good credentials they have had other articles in the (APS). In their opening of the
article, it grabs you and points out the question at hand. I found their statements to be credible for my
paper and also a very good source. One of the key points that make this article very important to my paper
is the points made on Stigma in mental health issues.
I also think this article is going to be one of many key points in my paper, it points out so much to my
research question. In reading this article I have found more research by other sources tied to this article,
this will help me further my research on my question at hand. I do agree with their article and their points
on how we get stigma on mental health.
