Dear Sir or Madam,
It is an honor to write a letter a letter of recommendation for my student, Katelyn Kister. I
have known Katelyn for many years. In that time, she has been one of my Spanish students as
well as one of my Peer Mediators here at DuBois Area Senior High School. I have had the
opportunity to really get to know this young lady and I give her my highest recommendation on
the basis of her excellence, integrity, leadership, and athletics.
Katelyn is a very conscientious student. She works very diligently and goes above and
beyond what she is required to do. Her attention to detail is always evident in what she does.
She is inquisitive. She is a hard worker. She always participates in class. She also is always
willing to help explain concepts to others. I am especially happy that Katelyn cares about the
quality of her work. She does not compromise her reputation by taking an easy path. Not only
does Katelyn excel at her high school course load, but she also participates in so many activities
both inside and outside of school.
Katelyn is a member of Peer Mediation and the National Honor Society. As a Peer
Mediation student, she has served as an officer for the last two years. She is a leader among her
peers as she is always willing to jump in and do whatever is necessary. She sees opportunity to
help and she rises to the challenge. Katelyn is able to brainstorm ideas and facilitate groups. She
keeps people on task. I always can depend on her to follow through with what she commits to as
well. I believe these leadership qualities were among those which earned Katelyn a
recommendation and acceptance as an alternate for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award
conference this past summer. Katelyn also has a strong moral character and an excellent
reputation which also help her to lead well.
Athletics have also played an important role in Katelyns life. She has played on the
tennis team all throughout high school. Katelyn has played softball in elementary and middle
school. She also finds time to do volunteer work.
She has been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten. In fact, she is currently pursuing her Gold
Award, which is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. Katelyn makes a difference in her
school and in her community. Her talents and drive do not end with her volunteer work. She
also works part- time as well! It takes a lot of dedication to maintain high academic standards
while pursuing so many other interests.
I am certain that Katelyn will be an excellent addition to the higher education community.
She strives for excellence and gives back through her various activities. I give Katelyn Kister my
highest recommendation.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tracy Chewning
Spanish Teacher, Peer Mediation Advisor
