To whom it may concern,

It is with great pride and excitement that I submit my name in consideration for an administrative
position within your school system. I have earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Early
Childhood/Elementary Ed, Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood/Elementary Ed, a Master of
Education as a Reading Specialist, Special Education certification (birth grade 8) and Admin I
certification under the Maryland State Department of Education guidelines. With 3 years experience
as a school based special education leader (Special Education Facilitator), 8 years experience as a
special education teacher and various opportunities to demonstrating my leadership skills at the
school, district and state levels, I am confident that I possess the characteristics that you are looking
for in an educational leader.
As the attached resume will detail, I am currently serving as the Special Education Facilitator at
Braddock Middle School, Cresaptown Elementary School and Flintstone Elementary School in Allegany
County, Maryland. It is my responsibility to hold IEP meetings, facilitate the special education
programs and related services of the students in each of those buildings, as well as, to support staff
and families throughout the special education process. Specifically, I work closely with faculty to
differentiate the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards for students with academic gaps
and/or differences. I also provide professional development opportunities for general education
teacher regarding up to date co-teaching practices. These resources were compiled from my
participation in the Johns Hopkins University/MSDE Co-Teaching Co-Hort experience. Most recently, I
have been working with special educators and related service staff to develop standards based IEPs.
During the 2015-16 school year, I spearheaded the initiative to reconfigure the middle school schedule
in order to provide opportunities for struggling students to participate inclusive intervention programs,
in addition to their core content reading/math program. Additionally, I serve as a leader among my
peers. Prior to district wide meetings, I facilitate staff meetings to review concerns/needs in order to
seek out during the formal meeting.
My greatest strengths include: collaborative leadership, strategic planning, empowering educators to
develop their leadership and instructional skills, organizational skills, strong technological abilities,
knowledge of special education practices, procedures and law, coordination/organization of special
education programs, and utilization of early intervention/identification of students with special needs. I
foster strong working relationships with local and school communities and facilitate integration of
initiatives designed to enhance the school environment.
