Read common high-frequency words by sight (e.g., the, of, to, you, she, my, is, are, do,does).
Lesson objective:
Student will read four sight words (has, our, help, who)

Assessment:
Student will read the book Who Has It? by Bill

with at least 75% accuracy for each word.

Student will Identify the words on the Dolch pre-primer list with 75% accuracy.
Opening:
The student will read the four sight word cards. I will help as needed. I will encourage the student to read the word
correctly several times.
Procedure:
I will lay out the four sight words along with several other sight words the student knows or is working on. He will
use a toy bus to drive over the words, read them, and collect them.
For the assessment portion, the student will sit back down with me at the table. He will read Who Has It? with as
much independence as possible. I will mark down words that he says independently and correctly, on the first try.
Tiered by:

Challenge: The student is reading words at a lower level than that of his peers. He is currently working on
memorizing the words.
Product (bodily/kinesthetic): The student will move around the room to read and collect sight words.
Closure:
We will go back to the original index cards and the student will read the four words.

Four target Sight words written on index cards
Several other sight word cards
Toy bus
Who Has It? book
