E-5-1 Demonstrate knowledge and ability to analyze the assessment
data to participate and collaborate in selecting established nursing
diagnosis.
One significant learning experience in this course is that I had
the opportunity to learn how to develop a nursing teaching plan
tailored to the clients needs by using metaparadigm concepts.
To establishing the teaching plan for hand washing, we
collected the subjective data, biographical data and background history
information from the client. To demonstrate use of critical thinking in
the diagnostic process in order to achieve accuracy of nursing
diagnoses, we interpreted all the assessment data to define the clients
learning barriers, learning style, and learning needs.
I learned by theory class, textbook readings and discuscsing
with my classmate how to gather appropriate data and analyze
situations, then formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis to achieve
learning goal.

This competency is very meaningful because it reveals

comprehensive knowledge about nursing teaching plan provide to the
client. After we collected the clients subjective data, we first identify
the clients learning needs and the problems of the client. Second,
based on the clients learning needs, we asked the client to
demonstrated hand washing which we identified that she did not using
the proper hand washing techniques due to deficient knowledge. After
we found out the problem of her hand washing, we need to assess the
clients preferred learning style because determine the clients learning
style will help identify which teaching techniques likely to be most
effective. Fourth, we have to assess the clients learning barrier which
helps us understand what may make education challenging for the
client and our learning process. Finally, we need to ensure our client
has learning will to promote her health because the motivation to learn
is essential for the client participate in the learning process.
Based on all information, to complete the assessment is very
important for us to formulate a nursing diagnosis, because we need to
ensure the teaching plan in effective and safer patient care by using the
assessment result.

I rate myself with a good proficiency category. Even though, I had

some struggles in regards to my teaching plan assignment, I believed
that I incorporated my fundamental nursing knowledge and theory
knowledge in my assessment. I studied my theory constantly and tried
to do my best in my exams and assignments.

I believe that in this course I acquired extensive nursing

foundation knowledge. I will apply my learning experience by
integrating holistic care to the patients and teaching and supporting
their family as well.
